The SALON Rocks!! Sitting in a stylist's chair for the first time can be soo intimidating but Chelsea totally had me at ease by really listening to my "hair issues" before working her "magic"! I'm not a girl obsessed with having my hair perfectly blown out with every strand in place or freaking out over a few greys. With that said, I must add that I've gotten so many compliments on my hair which is not something I'm used to at all! So that says alot about her talents. I believe everyone is gifted with some kind of natural creativity & like a rare gifted painter or sculpter, Chelsea's gift is making our hair beautiful! Oh,& healthy! Now I can't NOT comment on the Salon atmosphere because that in itself was pure DELIGHT! OMG. All the ladies working there were so welcoming & down-to-earth! We've ALL been to the Salon where the Receptionist,Stylists & others have major ATTITUDE(and I ain't talkin bout the good kind!Ha.)! My experience with Chelsea & Cosmotique was exactly the opposite! Jewely,Hair "Bobs",Fragrances,Soaps,Candles, unusual Mirrors hanging from chains or ribbons, carved Mermaids & Fairies(very BALI!),Umbrellas,Skin Care,Makeup,Garden Statues & even a large collection of great pink & peachy colored Himalayan Salt Crystal Lamps & candleholders which ionize the air & are great for health in general! No way have I mentioned all the lovely & interesting things for sale at Cosmotique, but hopefully this gives a little insight into my wonderful experience there!
This is a salon that charges per service, which can be an advantage if used correctly. I tried this salon and was not informed of the additional cost of the shampoo and blow-drying (an additional $30), though it was offered to me. A current client of the salon had misinformed me that the $35 hair cut included the shampoo and blow-dry. When I talked with management after I was charged $65 for a shampoo, trim and blow-dry, no refund was offered. They stated that they felt their prices were comparable to similar salons, though my research indicated that there was only ONE other "boutique salon" in the area that charges that amount - and only their top stylist charged that much. They further indicated that most of their clients are repeat long-term clients so their stylists are not accustomed to discussing pricing with new clients. The stylist I had KNEW that I was a first-time client and did not indicate to me that the EXTRA service she was offering would cost me an extra $30. Pros of this salon include parking and a cute boutique attached.
I am relatively new in town and only live on James Island part-time. I've gotten my hair cut at several different salons in town looking for a place to call "home". I was never happy enough with my haircut to go back a second time. I called Hair du Jour, having driven by several times. I have to admit, the location was not that inviting because I'm used to cityscape kind of places. Bobbie, the owner, just happened to have a cancellation and brought me right in. The salon is attractive, clean, friendly, well organized. Bobbie cut my hair (which is fine, and straight, and difficult to cut) perfectly. I've been back a second time and can say, without reservation, I have found a new salon "home".
Earl is absolutely the most wonderful stylist and color expert. I can sit in his chair and just say "Go for it!" He knows personality and style. He takes everything into consideration - your face shape, the color of your skin and how much time you are willing to spend on fixing your hair on a daily basis. If you take a picture to him and say "I want this." He will say "Honey, I can do that but you will hate me for it!" Your face will not carry that style or your skin tone will look like hell with that color or there is no way you want to spend an extra 1/2 an hour every morning fixing your hair. But if I do this . . . . and you will trust me - I promise you will look ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!!!
I have been going to Sunny and Shears for a long time. When my stylist left, I didn't know what to . do. So I decided to go introduce myself to a young woman named Jo. Jo is a very professional stylist. She listens to what you want and ads her own special touch. I have a weave, and there are not too many stylists who can do this. So I made an appointment with Jo, and haven't been happier. Extremely pleasant, very up person for a young woman, as long as JO is there I won't be leaving. She does little children and they seem to love her. Next time you are around there walk into the shop, introduce yourself and leave the driving to her.
I want to first say that I am very picky when it comes to my hair. I had let my hair grow for several years and it was very long. Vikki, owner of Sunny and Shears, cut at least 10 inches off and gave me a beautiful inverted bob. I had this cut prior to growing my hair out. She stacked the back perfectly and gave me some gorgeous highlights. I have been in the Charleston area for 2 years, but went back to the upstate for my hair cuts. l am so glad that I have found a hair stylist here that I will continue to go to for all of my future hair cuts and color. Anf besides being a great stylist... they have some of the best prices in the area!!! Thanks Vikki for an amazing new look!!!
I met the owner, Kelly at a photo shoot where she proceeded to work her magic on hair and makeup. I have always been so afraid to get my hair cut or trimmed because I have long hair and some stylists are way too liberal in cutting it. But Kelly also has long hair and gave me some good tips on taking care of it. A few weeks later, I made my appointment at Revamp and have never been so excited about a haircut before. Revamp Salon is artsy and relaxing inside with very cool colors, furniture, artwork, etc. And Kelly and David are down to earth people that have great talent when it comes to hair. I have never been so happy about how my hair looks and feels. Thanks Kelly!
I would like to say that I had one of the best experiences ever euth my hair.I an a cancer survivorand I went to JC Penny when they did the free haircuts last fall.I met Bonnie and felt so comfortable with her and what she did with ny hair.I have wavy hair and it is very hard to cut.I loved evertthing she did.I lost touch with her until recently when I was told where she moved to.it is very hard to find someone who knows what tbey are doing and does it well.Having over 30 years experience in the hair industry, including most of thode in her own salon, Sunny and Shears is very lucky to have her.I send everone I know ti her as I get compliments on my hair often.
This is the cutest Purple building on Hwy 61 in West Ashley. The stylist are very knowlegeable and friendly. They are very accommodating with appointments and helpful. Julia is my stylist and she is fantastic. I found her thru a collegue of mine. You will love the gift shop and all the beautiful jewlery they have. Soooo affordable and pretty. Beautiful and unique wraps and scarves. You have to stop by and see the Duke University Cosmetic line they have. It is amazing to keep your youthful look. Very knowledgeable about their products too. Thank you Cosmotique. A wonderful experience everytime I come into your shop. Pat Broghamer Realtor,
What I love most about going to Stuart Lawrence is that I dont have to worry too much about "fixing" my hair. Butch has been working with my hair for about 15 years and knows I am not very good about styling my hair. He always seems to cut it so that with minimal effort in the morning it looks great. Going to get my haircut is a wonderful event in itself. Butch and the entire crew invoke a relaxing yet entertaining atmosphere that always makes you feel like you have just spent time with your best friends. I just hope Butch never writes a book.....because he is such a good listener I have told him all of my life secrets! Donna Williamson
