...not a Mexican restaurant I've been to this restaurant in Cali, where I grew up. So when I found out this had opened a couple of years ago, I had to go. Yummy home-cooked food my lolas & aunties used to make. I can cook most of these dishes, but sometimes I just want someone else to do it for me, you know? Love the CRISPY PATA - have to order this every time you go. Some things are a little pricey, but if you crave it, you might as well order it. Ambiance is typical filipino style w/ decorations of our culture and of course...a big flat screen showing either filipino news or a filipino game show/karaoke show. Service is ok, but that's typical in a filipino restaurant. They're there to cook you some good food & that's about it. They're Dinaguan and Pork Sinigang are tasty too. Try it out for yourself.
I'm always looking for a good sandwich for lunch in a romantic open setting to take my wife. My wife and I ordered a Santa Cruz and Sinker sub. The portions are very generous in fact we may just split one next time. The Santa Cruz is an excellent Turkey Sub consisting of Mesquite turkey, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, corn relish, cheddar and chipotle mayo. The Sinker was excellent consisting of Spicy Pickle tuna, lettuce, tomatoes, pepper jack and horseradish mayo. Both subs were delicious and the standard ingredients really do go well. I was really surprised with the Tuna it was to die for. We also sat in the open patio right next to a water fountain which provided the romantic setting with excellent food. We both plan on making the Spicy Pickle our new lunch getaway.
The burgers are very good as are the fries. If you want anything other than a beef patty and fries to eat, you better go somewhere else! Unless tomatoes, onions and peppers will satisfy your hunger. No diet drinks either--just bottled coke, bottled water, bottled beer or frozen strawberry or regular marquiritas. No joke! Not even a milk shake which surely would help clog arteries! Cute young waitresses dressed in nurse uniforms. Well not the kind you'll find in a hospital! Short short and tight. One gal was serving up buns that weren't around a burger! It was all in good fun. Must put a hospital gown on over your clothes in order to be served. Nothing healthy hear but a darn good burger.
