I bought my wedding gown from Ducky's, and I just want to thank all of them for helping me have such a wonderful day! The sales associate who helped me was extremely friendly and professional, and I especially liked how she didn't show me any gowns outside my price range! She also took my figure and coloring into consideration, and suggested gowns I would not normally have tried. In fact, she found "My Dress" for me; I wouldn't have tried it on, but she told me that it would look beautiful on me, and lo and behold, she was right! I also loved the fact that she didn't pressure me or try to rush me into making a decision. Alterations were great, too; they have a wonderful seamstress there who takes the time to get your measurements right, and does everything to perfection. My gown fit perfectly on the big day. Ducky's has code names for all their wedding gowns, so if you're looking for a gown by a specific designer, this isn't the place to go, because they won't tell you until your dress is bought and paid for. I personally couldn't have cared less about who designed my dress, so this wasn't an issue for me. As with all bridal shops, avoid them on weekends, as they're packed. You will get much better service if you go during the day on a weekday. Make sure to make an appointment if you want to try anything on, and as with any bridal shop, accessories such as veils, tiaras, shoes, guest books, etc. are all hideously overpriced. eBay is a wonderful source for wedding accessories. Thank you so much, Ducky's, for all you did to help make my wedding day special!!
First, let me say that I love my wedding dress, especially considering that it was well within my budget, unlike the dresses I liked (less) at other bridal shops in town. The dress fit me perfect off the rack, so I was able to put it on layaway and make monthly payments. Ducky's has a nice area for trying on wedding dresses, and the young woman who helped me when I first went to try dresses was very helpful and not pushy at all. When making payments or dealing with appointments, sometimes I had to wait a while (~10 minutes) for people to find items or to work with their outdated computer system. This wasn't a big problem, but it was a big contrast from the professionalism of the shop my bridesmaids' dresses came from. I was pretty fortunate that I didn't need much by way of alterations, but the seamstress at Ducky's is very friendly and - more importantly - really good at her job. Since it's a smaller shop, the turnaround on alterations was quick.
I had so much fun at Ducky's! They have a huge selection of gowns with just about any type you could want. They also have a good selection of veils, tiaras, etc. to try on with the different gowns. The dressing rooms were very spacious, and there was no limit on the number of dresses you could take in there, so it was easy to hold different dresses up to each other and compare. And if you want something that they don't have, they have a good network of other stores they can order from so you can try to find the perfect dress. My only real complaint was that I didn't feel like I got honest opinions out of the sales staff. They just kept telling me that everything looked amazing. It was all right, because I had my mom to give me honest feedback, but it would have been nice to get an honest opinion out of the sales staff.
