Sutton House Bed & Breakfast

About 5-6 months prior to our destination wedding, I booked a one-night reservation for our DJ as he will be traveling from Boston. I had difficulty finding a room due to a popular event taking place in the area (hence the early booking). Especially, for one-night. I was so relieved when Ms. St. Claire seemed to be so accommodating to our needs. I explained that the bridal party and our immediate family were planning to stay in a different town close to our venue, but agreed to place her information on our wedding website and let other guests know how special their stay would be at the B&B. However, I also stated that I couldn't guarantee their booking (She wasn't blocking any rooms off for us or giving us a set rate for said rooms). I made sure this was understood, as I couldn't demand this of our guests. She also seemed to understand this. Otherwise, why would I have given her my credit card information and why would she have taken it?



She called today to inform me that she was canceling our reservation, as she had guests from another wedding inquire about the rooms. She explained that she could charge more than the $150 per night she quoted us and they were asking for two more nights.



I understand the business logistics of this decision, but it's wrong. Morally wrong. It's put us in a bad place now due to the size of the towns surrounding our venue and this annual event. My mother has since informed me that two of our family friends have booked a room at The Sutton House, possibly two others as well.



I WILL be reaching out to them and asking that they find different accommodations. I'll pay the difference if needed. I don't want them driving from out-of-state only to find that their room has been cancelled and are stuck without accommodations because she has later decided to work with someone else. Of all the things that could go wrong while planning a wedding, I was definitely not prepared for this. It looks like a beautiful inn, but unfortunately I will never know.



I would recommend Olde Orchard Inn B&B, The Inn at Mill Falls, The Cottages of NH, The Wolfeboro Inn, and The Inn on Main if looking for dependability and professionalism.
