Driftwood Motel & Restaurant
Cedar Island NC
"All Locals know the Driftwood story. First, it is not in Atlantic, it is 12 miles away in Cedar Island, at the Ocracoke Ferry, right on the beach waterfront, with almost no waterfront view. The restaurant meals rate from OK to Fairly Good, depending on who is cooking, how they are feeling, and if they just went to the fish house that is a mile away. Most of their food is deep fried, and not always fried enough. The salad bar is sometimes fresh. The people are always friendly. You can have a good time, even if swallowing gets challenging. The Hotel is a total Flee Bag. An embarrassment to the community and Humanity. I haven't heard complaints of Bed Bugs. That is the kindest thing anyone can say. Google "Driftwood Hotel Cedar Island reviews" if you want some entertainment. I doubt you have ever read such a a horror show of reviews. I have never heard a kind word. It is as awful as it looks. For giggles, go around back to the boarded up unit was where a guest showed their appreciation by crashing their car intentionally into their bedroom, so no one else would ever suffer the same indignity. Driftwood just boarded it up a decade ago. The back of the hotel is locked up and abandoned. The collapsed building next door is owned by the same formerly prominent family. The children took over the business, and have done everything but burn it down. All the locals hope they will finish the job soon, so we can be rid this blight on the community. "
