No stars. DANGEROUS DRIVERS.



I'm writing this review to report reckless driving on behalf of one of the VBL operators this morning. I was driving in Webster Groves at 8:35am on Tuesday, May 6th when a VBL bus decided that backing up in reverse at a stop sign was a good idea. I was the first car directly behind the bus and luckily I acted quickly, put my car in reverse and stepped on my gas pedal nearly hitting the van behind me to avoid being smashed by the VBL bus. The intersection was Lockwood Ave./Big Bend Blvd.



As you may know, this is a high foot traffic area as there are multiple schools located here. This type of driving is not acceptable anywhere, especially where students are present. Unfortunately, I did not see the plate or bus number as I was dodging the bus to save myself.

I am the motor coach coordinator for Tropicana Evansville. I deal with many bus companies on a daily basis. I have many of my charter groups book with their trips from St. Louis and the surrounding areas with Vandalia Bus Lines. I have always recieved wonderful feedback about their experience with great drivers, helpful staff, and reliable equipment while bringing groups to visit Tropicana Evansville. I highly recommend Vandalia to anyone seeking a motor coach for their trip. I typically don't leave bad reviews for companies, but I believe most companies usually right any wrongs when dealing with customers. Vandalia Bus Lines is NOT one of these businesses. We hired two buses from Vandalia for our wedding to shuttle guests back and forth from hotels to our venue. One bus showed up on time in the right location; the other showed up in the wrong town (O'Fallon, IL instead of O'Fallon, MO). We were left to deal with this issue thirty minutes before the start of our wedding, which we inevitably had to push back by thirty minutes because of this mistake on Vandalia's part. Everyone makes mistakes...we get that, but Vandalia has been absolutely awful to deal with in rectifying the situation. If you are looking at Vandalia for service, I would be VERY cautious. As you know, it isn't inexpensive, and for the money you pay, you would hope they would at least be courteous when dealing with issues that they created.

Trip was terrific. We couldn't have had a better driver than Patrick Brennen - always on time or early; always courteous, cooperative, adaptable, helpful, and knowledgeable; careful and one of the best drivers we've had. A member of our group who has been running trips for about 25 years said Pat was one of the most professional drivers he had experienced. Ann, too, earned much praise from all of us for her informative and enjoyable commentary on the tour in which she hit "the top ten" highlights of St. Louis (according to several who looked those things up) without being heavy-handed about it.



Everything went very well but we could have done without the 90-degree heat, even being from Washington, DC. We were all much impressed with St. Louis - lovely streets, interesting architecture, fabulous museums and botanical garden, etc. etc. Of course, we came for Opera Theatre of St. Louis, and those performances were outstanding!
