My family went to Macaroni Grill with my best friend and her family. We were originally going to go to Olive Garden but there was an hour wait and no reservations accepted so we decided to go to Macaroni Grill with a reservation. We arrived about 5 minutes before our reservation time and still ended up waiting an hour to be seated. This is rediculous to me. We could have just went to Olive Garden without a ressie and in retrospect, we should have. If you have a reservation then you should be seated. They kept telling us our table was almost ready but it never was. We had 5 kids waiting with us. That is not fun. When we were finally seated, our waiter took our drink order which he promptly brought to the table and spilled all down the back of my husband and me and inside my purse. I understand that accidents happen but we waited an hour to be seated and now we are soaking wet. Once our new drinks came to the table he forgot to give us straws so we had to wait forever to get those because he wasn't very attentive. Finally we got to order. After we ordered it took almost an hour for our food to come to the table and when it did it was HORRIBLE. The worst food I have ever tasted. Now I am not overly harsh on resturaunts and I am pretty sure I have never written a review, good or bad, on a resturaunt but I felt this was neccessary. The food was not just bad it was absolutely horrible. My food was cold and tasteless. Had it been hot and delicious, it was still the smallest portion I had ever seen. My friends pasta was hard and cold and there was like 3 pieces of chicken in her pasta. (she paid 3 dollars to add chicken so that is crazy) My husband said his was tasteless and cold. He loves food and rarely ever complains about it so this is saying something. At this point, I was so hungry that I ate mine. My friend refused to, she complained and they insisted on bringing her a new plate of food. Of course she didnt get to eat with us after waiting 3 hours but she took it to go. We complained about the food but decided not to send it back. We should have. We did feel bad for our waiter though, he was probably having the worst night ever. Our checks came and my family had no discount, no free appetizer, no apology for spilling drinks all over us and my 120 dollar purse. My friend send back two of her meals and got one replaced for free and unending apologies. I am glad she did, but I really do not get that. Apparently you need to complain to somebody who cares in that resturaunt. Needless to say, I will not ever be going back. I understand accidents happen, staff can be shorthanded, your busy, but make it right. I feel like we paid somebody to make us uncomfortable and unhappy because we sure didn't pay for delicious food and a good experience.

We had dinner at Macaroni Grill in Carmel on Dec 13th 2008. The service was poor and slow. Our waitress forgot our bread and was very unfriendly when reminded. She dumped the bread off with no apology with no oil so I had to ask for that too. Then she forgot to bring bread plates so we are having to hold our oily bread in our hands with no place to put it down. The meal went OK from there but my veal scaloppini was as tough as shoe leather. I didn't dare complain since my family was getting tense seeing me get the cold shoulder from the waitress and starting to comment about it. I used to really like this restaurant....but no more. There are too many places in Indy where the staff seems to encourage you to enjoy your meal.
