Conveniently located between Austin and San Antonio, Lake Pointe Resort is just a wonderful place to choose as a base of operations while exploring the unique towns and cities of central Texas. We love staying here! The staff and members are just so friendly! And it's beautiful, with lots of live oaks. The RV camping spaces (quite a few are pull-through) are generously spaced, so, unlike some "campgrounds" it never feels like you're parking in back of a truck stop! It's a real resort, a place we are comfortable staying for weeks on end. There are over 80 RV campsites (most with 50 amp service, and those spaces which don't have sewer hook-ups have complementary honey-wagon service), 10 two and three bedroom condominiums, and tent camping available on the shore of beautiful Canyon Lake in the Texas Hill country. Lake Pointe Resort is a private resort, not open to the general public EXCEPT for members of a) Coast to Coast, and b)Passport America. Another exception is that they have an introductory offer where anyone can stay for up to 3 nights in a campsite (RV or tent) for just $15 per night (and a member shows you around the resort to see the facilities). The condominiums may only be rented by members of Lake Pointe Resort and Coast to Coast members. As a member-owned, not-for-profit park, it is also very affordable. Check out their website www.lakepointerevresort.com for information about memberships. The main things to note are that there is no continuing contractual obligation requiring you to pay maintenance fees in the future, unlike a time share. Lake Pointe Resort is a popular choice with "Winter Texans", snowbirds who come down from the north for the winter, as the membership costs work out to allow them to stay for about $10 per night. Lake Pointe Resort is also currently offering a "summer membership" for just $100, with no maintenance fee at all. The membership runs from March 1, 2009 through Labor Day 2009, giving the summer member access to the recreational facilities of the park, and RV or Tent camping for $12 per night (plus metered electric charges).
Lake Pointe Resort is an awesome place. My wife and I stayed in the condos with my sister and her family and had a great time. It was great to be right next to the water, and we saw deer pretty much every time we went outside. I can't recommend Lake Pointe Resort enough for anyone visiting Canyon Lake, TX who wants a quiet place to swim, fish, hang out, and relax.
Lake Pointe Resort is the best park I have stayed in. The property is lovely and spacious with oak trees laced throughout the park. Canyon Lake is a mere 5 minute walk down the hill. If you do not have an RV you can stay in a Condo. It is centrally located between San Antonio and Austin with many activities to do.
