I moved here May 2009 and loving it. After viewing over 14 apartment complex, CG was by far my first choice. I have lived in 4 other luxurious and no so luxurious communities. So, trust me I know about bratty staff and feeling lied to just to sign a contract. Normally, I don't write reviews but, I felt like checking out what people had to say about where I live and I felt it was only fair for me to write about my experiences at CG. First, I came on a Sunday, I drover around the complex as they do not have gates which I personally prefer no gates (since they can be a pain when they break , etc.) I found the construction and landscaping to be the most appealing, the buildings are not on top of each other so you don't feel like your neighbor across from you can see inside your apartment. The trees are so old that it gives a home feeling. The pool area is by far the nicest and largest pool in the area with a very comfortable BBQ area if you like to have a large group of friends for entertainment. The shaded area where the playground is located it's really spacious and far enough from where the cars drive by. The leasing office is beautiful!!! The young man who was there when I walked in without an appointment not only was very informative but, showed me four apartments. All four floor plans where really nice, I had a hard time making my mind up. When he told me that the cable was included, I was sold. One less bill to pay. Yay!!! Yes, you do not get all the extra channels but, I do get HBO and another cable channel. I used to think that my water bill was high but, after talking to other tenants mine is actually pretty decent even thought we wash clothes on a daily basics and cook daily. I live on the second floor on a 3/2 with Den, I keep my AC running on 68/70 constantly and my electric bill is a lot less than other smaller apartments I have lived in. I LOVE my apartment. The layout of the apartment it sure does make anyone feel at home living. I have vaulted ceilings, crown molding and my kitchen is just the perfect size even for someone like me that cooks daily. I did not have the need for a garage but, they are first come first serve so, if you need one, you need to sign up and be patience because they do come available. The leasing office staff is the BEST out of all the apartment complex I have lived in the Austin area. The leasing manager Cara is on top of things. I needed my battery replaced in my alarm and since my ceilings are so hight, she immediately arranged for the maintenance crew to come by and replace it. There isn't a time that I have walked in the office that she does not have a welcoming smile on her face and greets me with pleasure and professionalism. I have met a couple of wonderful girls at the office who got promoted into management positions but, the new girl Courtney is a great addition to the CG team. She is also very professional, sweet and helpful. From time to time I need to send a fax or receive a fax and before I ask for the favor she stretches her hand out and simply ask "are we faxing?". Honestly, I would not be writing any of it if I did not feel that it was fair. Colonial Grand at Canyon Creek is the BEST place to live because of the Manager, Leasing Agents, Maintenance Grew and most of all the apartments are truly the best for your money. You can go around and compare and you will see, I saved you time. If you rent here, you will meet me as everyone is very friendly at the pool.
Nick Ulrich. is. the. man! Period. Seriously though, Nick from Apartment Experts has been nothing but a stalwart professional since our first encounter a little over a month ago. I will be going to UT for grad school in the fall, and I wanted to beat the summer rush to find a decent place before they were all snapped up. I consider myself to be a fairly easy going person, but I was getting frustrated by Austin Craigslist ads. On a stroke of luck, one Friday night I struck up an email exchange with Nick via an Apartment Experts Craigslist posting. Nick, sensing my frustration, offered to have a phone conversation with me the very next day. While his demeanor is laid back, it was clear to me that he knows the landscape of rentals in Austin like the back of his hand. He quickly and adeptly made himself aware of my situation (why I was moving to Austin, how much I was hoping to spend, what kind of apartment I was looking for - I was looking for an apartment I could afford on a grad student budget, preferably with hard wood floors and on-site laundry, that was a shuttle ride from campus. He then sent me a follow-up email within 24 hours of our first conversation with three options of apartments he thought we be a good fit for me - for those of you not keeping track, it was a Sunday! Nick helped me to find a great apartment complex which I agreed had apartments with all of the things I asked for, in a great neighborhood. He then went out of his way to keep in touch with the apartment management to make sure I got the number 1 spot on the Wait List - which landed me the only efficiency up for grabs from the complex in August. He seemed to have a great working relationship with the apartment complex. Now, with the stress of finding a place off my shoulders, I can relax and enjoy my last summer of freedom. I recommend that anyone who is moving to Austin give Nick Ulrich a call. I'm really excited for my upcoming move, and you better bet I'm buying Nick a beer :-)
Thank You Nick! If you’re looking for an apartment in Austin, choose “Apartment Experts” and ask for NICK ULRICH. He has helped me find 2 apartments over the years and has always been professional. The first time I called Apartment Experts and spoke with him I was already stressed beyond belief about relocating and finding a place in time. With his distinct, easy-going Texas accent he said, “Well, don’t you worry about a thing! We are going to find you a place. You just list off what you’re looking for and I’ll get to work!” I knew I had the right guy for the job. The first agent I contacted there (and you know who you are-agent with no commission!) told me I was conducting my search too early in the year and seemed to respond to my requests at a snail’s pace. Nick listened to what I wanted, started working immediately and my “too-early” search was over within a week. (No joke) Each time, he exhibited patience and understanding when it came to the very specific needs I wanted in an apartment. My boyfriend and I thought we had a very specific idea of where we wanted to live in Austin. Nick showed us what we were asking for and then showed us 2 apartments we hadn’t even thought of. We actually went with the one we hadn’t thought of! Nick was more than generous with his time and was able to meet us at various locations around the city. Needless to say, I can fully recommend Nick Ulrich. When you call him, be prepared for a friendly voice, thorough questions (bring your wish list) and quick results. When you meet him, be prepared for a big Texas grin, laid-back style and the laugh lines to prove it. Overall, a 10/10 experience.
