Overall

This guy is a joke, I called in regards, to a return policy, since I was about to spend $600. Jerry the owner did not care for my inquirie, on the return policy, or the reviews about his tents being moldy and rotten. So he thought it would be better to curse at me, and hang up the phone. From the sounds of it, this guy is shady and can't be trusted....

I just wanted to share my over...

I just wanted to share my overall experience with this company, the product they shipped me, and the customer service they provided.

I have decided to go public with my issues as a last resort.

If anyone is looking for a Mil surplus tent, tent frame, tent heater or anything else, you may want to look elsewhere. The following is what I have went through over the last 17 days. Pardon my long winded post, but I figured you guys should know what dealing Mountain Gear Surplus is like.

I won a 16x16 expandable tent outer skin from Government Liquidation and was in need of liners and a tent frame. Because the tent I won is "New in Crate" I wanted to try and find a new frame and newer liners. I found the new Frame via an ebay ad from a seller by the name of "revava". I found out that "revava" is really Mountain Gear surplus out of Asheville, NC. AKA Mountain Gear Sales inc.

I Spoke with "Geri" and ordered and "New in box perfect condition" 16x16 tent frame and used liners. My credit card was charged immediately.

Needless to say the "New, in perfect condition" (as described in the ebay ad) tent frame arrived bent, repaired, all the perlins were twisted and it had been painted in several areas.

The "used" tent liners I also ordered showed up WET, Heavily soiled, and covered with mildew and mold. The plastic black buckle straps that hold the liner to the frame were all broken rendering the tent liners useless.

I contacted Geri several times and she promised partial refund to my credit card, replacement tent liners and a formal receipt for my purchase. I still have not received anything from the company. I still do not even have a receipt for my several hundred dollar purchase.

The customer service provided by this company is terrible. The owner of the company "Jerry Diskin" hung the phone up on me and has ignored my emails and calls. I finally did get in touch with him this morning and he advised that "his company deals with larger buyers overseas and he is not willing to help me or address my concerns" He then hung up the phone on me.

You will be sorry if you decide to purchase anything from this company. Boldface lies, broken promises, and misrepresentation is how they do business.

Good Price, But

I bought a used Military GP Tent and liner from them. There are two types canvas and canvas laminated with vinyl. My order was for the laminated one and they admit they sent the wrong one.

To get me to keep it they tried to tell me they had acccidently sent me a new canvas one (versus used) so it was a better deal. The one that arrived was a standard used canvas, not what I ordered.

They admit the error, but now it's too late and I'm stuck with the wrong tent or not have it for my trip as the delayed transit and their delayed responses to my inquiries drug on.

I'd give them a 2.5 out of 5 as they goofed up the order and then tried to rationalize it away versus sending the right tent.
