Please do not waste your time with this restaurant. Awful wait staff, terrible food, over-priced. It may have been voted Best of Boston in the past, but it appears to have gone downhill since then.
Friendly service, really great Greek comfort food (kabobs, salads, and a fabulous non-Greed fish and chips) makes this a Kendall Square hang-out for the neighborhood. Large main dining room and a front bar area where locals meet to drink wine and catch up.

Desfina does not come off as any place fancy, it looks rather small town family like and that is how it is run. Its location on Third street probably keeps diners away who go by sighting places and easy to access locations. Though parking is ample in the area, I believe people most likely are not aware of that. I also believe that if anyone ate here, they would suffer bad parking to come again and again. I say thta because I have been back now quite a few times and I see familiar faces there - true fans of genuine Greek food. This menu needs to be sampled to be understood, its excellence come not from complicated expensive ingredients but highly fresh Greek staples. The chicken kabob for example is just green and red peppers, onions and chicken - yet it is basted in an amazing healthy low salt sauce that leaves nothing to be desired. The chef uses only the freshest ingreients and the preparation is fine dining level. The staff are extremely friendly and the restaurant itself is spacious, clean and comfortable. If you like Greek food stop by and if you don't... stop by and learn to.

While weekend nights can be a bit crowded and noisy (a band may be playing), you can still get a seat promptly, and the food is wonderful. The tzatziki is the best I've ever had, and the pastichio is also great. While not high-brow, the atmosphere is comfortable and conducive to enjoying a good meal.

YES YES YES! I love this place and would highly recommend it to anyone. Their pastichio is wonderful.

This restaurant opened in the former location of a bar called Third & Charles. The pizza joint across the street is owned by the same family. ( I think brothers, at the least cousins ). The food is always great here. I even ate lunch here and watched the opening ceremonies for the Olympics from Greece.
