worst service ever

i've flown american 3 or 4 times and they never seem to have it together. delays, poor service, unfriendly attendants and cramped seating aside, i can add stolen items to my list of complaints. upon returning home from a family visit for the holidays, i discovered items missing from INSIDE my luggage. now i have the good fortune of having to ask for sales receipts for the gifts i received. adding insult to injury, their policies regarding such instances just sucks. i have to go to the airport of my final destination in order to file a claim for the items that are missing because they don't have a public phone number!!!! is this a joke? i just paid $1000 to visit my family- not counting the cash you have to cough up in order to check your bags- which i basically paid to have my things stolen- and now I have to go to THEM in order to attempt to have the situation rectified. what a slap in the face. my biggest concern through all of this is that if it's so easy for someone to take something from a bag, how easy is it for someone to put something in? with all of the security issues with the airlines these days, i would hope that it would be harder for something like this to occur.
