Dan Sheff has been my personal trainer for two and a half years. Throughout those years, he has offered unending support, encouragement, and genuine interest in the personal goals I have set for myself. I consider him a mentor more than a trainer, and I appreciate the level of commitment he shows to me and the rest of his clients. As a busy health care professional, it would be easy for me to put exercise on the bottom of my list of priorities. However, Dan’s gentle reminders, quiet encouragement, and willingness to accommodate my busy schedule does not allow for this self-defeating behavior. He inspires me to continue on my path to a healthy lifestyle. Regarding priorities, Dan always makes me feel like I am his number one priority during our training sessions; I appreciate that about him as well. He focuses intently on me and on the exercise I am performing, and he encourages my feedback. He then uses my feedback to adjust the routine accordingly. As a result, our sessions feel like a true partnership…where we work together toward a common goal. He does not allow me to stray from my goal, nor does he allow himself to be pulled away by outside distractions like phone calls, text messaging, etc. I know he values me and our time together; I too value each session. Therefore, Dan's level of professionalism and commitment to his clients are second to none. Don't waste money on a health club membership ever again. I used to go in the first week and learn how to use the machines and weights and what part of the body was being worked. The second week, when I was on my own, I would try to remember what I was supposed to do with each piece of equipment, how many reps I should do, etc... and just become confused. By the third week I would stop going. Dan Sheff takes the guess work and the mystery out of it. Dan develops a workout plan for each session and then stands by your side coaching you and giving you direction the entire time. You are never left to try to figure it out for yourself. For me, that has made the difference. I have been going to Dan for four months now and I have not missed a session. I no longer make excuses. Dan is extremely professional and knowledgeable about fitness and nutrition. His evaluation takes into account the reasons you are there before him (health, weight loss, etc..) and he always keeps those goals in mind when working with you. I came to personal training after years of gym memberships and gradually losing interest in working out. My motivation was low, I had put on extra weight, and I was generally disillusioned with what a fitness plan might be able to do for me. Dan has been a great resource. The workout regimen I'm on is thoughtful, tailored for me, and he complements it with an extensive knowledge of nutrition and health-related issues. He knows how to push me physically while at the same time being supportive of my current abilities. There's no "gym rat" attitude here- Dan is a supportive presence who cares about what's going on in my life and how it impacts my involvement in a fitness regimen. Plus, I'm seeing results: I have more energy during the day, have lost weight and put on muscle, my clothes fit better, and I'm sleeping well. I'm looking forward to continually setting new goals with Dan's help.
