About Search Results

YP - The Real Yellow PagesSM - helps you find the right local businesses to meet your specific needs. Search results are sorted by a combination of factors to give you a set of choices in response to your search criteria. These factors are similar to those you might use to determine which business to select from a local Yellow Pages directory, including proximity to where you are searching, expertise in the specific services or products you need, and comprehensive business information to help evaluate a business's suitability for you. “Preferred” listings, or those with featured website buttons, indicate YP advertisers who directly provide information about their businesses to help consumers make more informed buying decisions. YP advertisers receive higher placement in the default ordering of search results and may appear in sponsored listings on the top, side, or bottom of the search results page.

I go to DCI twice a week and have been going for ~4 months. The first time you go you have to be registered and do a little course, and they ask you a bunch of health questions so it takes longer (around 3 hours). From then on, you walk in the door and sign in, and they call you up. They take your weight and check to see you haven't gone to the other center, and then ask you a routine set of health questions, and take your temperature, pulse, and blood pressure. Then they prick your finger to test the blood, and if all is well they call you in to donate. How long it takes depends on the person and the rate at which your blood flows into the machine. They give you a paper to sign when you're done, and you're free to go. They don't pay in cash, but through a (VISA / citi bank) debit card that they deposit into electronically, and which they give to you your first time. The standard rate is $25 for the first visit of the week and $30 for the second visit of the week. You can't visit more than twice, and once you set your two days of the week you have to miss a day to change them. It takes about 2 hours in total for the whole process. You can get paid more with specials; right now your first two visits are $50 each, and they sometimes have specials like an extra $5 for 4 visits or they call you on the phone for an extra $10. At one point I had to wait longer because they lost my folder so they gave me an extra $10. They return your red blood cells, etc. so side effects aren't bad, and they rarely have to keep stabbing (but I did get a newbie once who bloodied my arm lol). So, it's at least $55/week or $220/month assuming you go regularly. Mornings are best because it's less crowded so you wait less. If you go after 4:30 PM the work crowd is coming in, so it's very busy. Every few months they take a blood sample of a couple vials to check for diseases. The daily testing is much less thorough, and I would not recommend going there as a regular check-up. Some people go drinking afterwards because getting drunk is easier (but hangovers are usually more severe because of dehydration). If you can't get anything to eat before you go there, they have fruit punch in the waiting area.
