This place is the best for so many reasons!

Last summer (2011), my friends and I drove from Philadelphia area to a campground called Mount Pocono Campground. We had reservations with them and expected nothing to go wrong. However, once we got there, they told us everyone had to be above 25 years old and they told us to get of their property, after driving that hole way. We finally located a paper filled of campground names and preceeded to call each one. We tried 3 different campgrounds, drove miles to them, only to be harrassed and eventually told to leave because of our age. All of the campgrounds tried charging us double just to stay there.

We finally called Chestnut Lake Campground, and they told us they would be more than happy to have us spend the weekend there! The owners gave us directions to their camp, and we arrived in about a half hour. We told them all about our story and they felt horrible that any business owner would do any of that.

Not only is Chestnut Lake an affordable place to camp, it is unlike any other campground I've been to. All of the RV's are in the front of the campground, with sites in the back for tent camping. There are woods in the very very back, and they call it "Rustic Camping". That is where my friends and I stayed, and it was well worth it! You have the entire woods to yourself (unless others are camping "rustically" too) and you basically put your tent wherever you want! There are fire pits, and you can move the picnic tables to where you decide to camp.

The owners are the nicest people you will ever meet also! Not only did they welcome us after such a horrible day, but the woman handed us (2) handfuls of QUARTERS to spend in the game room! They also allowed us to use any of their boats for free, at any time of the day (or night!). We made them pancakes in the morning and brought them to their RV for being so nice!

I know this place doesn't have a website, most likely because it is a very small campground, and they'd like to keep it that way. But I promise you, whether you are a family looking for a nice getaway or just a group of friends, you will love this place!
