I spent a wonderful Sunday afternoon with family at the cafe situated in the Mandarin hotel. No this is not your Howard Johnson's fair, but an elegant attentive staff; beautiful presentation of food; and great ambience type of thing. The crusty salmon dish served rare was excellent. Try the brunch tasting menu, the variety of dishes are small enough that you can taste everything and you want to taste everything!
If you are looking for a nice and casual place to grab a snack and some coffee with your group, this is the place to be! It is a very low-key, college and professional crowd, and unpretentious! It is only a few blocks from Dupont Circle and a couple blocks from Georgetown and Rock Creek. On-street parking is available, but you may have to allow time to find it. I highly recommend this place!
If you just want to eat great sushi during a quant dinner then this is not the place for you. While the food is great they are lacking in a few oriental qualities one being plum wine. Overall the food is good, the place is clean, and very very trendy. Check out the unisex bathroom while you are there. A little freaky!!
