Tried to Gouge Me, Then Left

I had a problem with my dryer, which the D-Boy technician easily repaired. So far so good.

The cost was $88 for the half hour of time plus parts. The parts were two very standard parts (the serviceman knew before he opened up the machine what it would be) and simple. (The fuse that shuts the machine down if it overheats and another little part.) They didn't look like they should cost $60, which is what the serviceman said I'd be charged. So I looked them up on Amazon. The same parts are available (with free shipping) for $4. I called D-Boy headquarters and told the boss I was being gouged. He contacted the serviceman and summarily told him to put the old parts back in my dryer, close up the machine and leave. I would not recommend D-Boy under any circumstances.

DBoys service -- avoid them if you can

I called D-Boy because I had a problem with my 8 year old Kenmore dryer. I was reluctant to make the call, since online reviews were not stellar. I asked the service department about the reviews and they told me that they are working with the customer to resolve the problem, so I thought, ok, that's a good sign.

I paid $88 for 1/2 hour of a technician time. I explained the problem and he recommended 2 parts to be replaced. I asked him if he is sure that it will fix the problem he said he can't guarantee it but he thinks it will. I asked if the part does not solve the problem, am I responsible for the part, he said yes.

So let me outline the cost:
Initial service call: $88
Parts: $~170
Second Service Call to install Part: $40
Guarantees -- none!

So, I ordered the 2 parts that he recommended for $65 including S&H from an online retailer and had a technician install it. (D-Boy did not accept replacing a part purchased from a different retailer). The problem was not fixed. The heater is still not running despite changing the heater relay and control board.

So I called D-Boy again: I'd like to schedule a second service call. How much will it be? Another $88 for the first 1/2 hour plus parts, and $40 for each additional 1/2hr. I expected to pay $40, since this is a continuation of the previous problem. What I should have expected is a refund for poor service!

I can't see how it is at all reasonable or cost effective to expect a customer to use D-Boys to fix anything. The total cost if I had D-Boy do everything would have been well over $400 which is almost the cost of a new dryer.

I believe that there was a misrepresentation of the service. Technician gave an ineffective diagnosis, van was not sufficiently stocked to replace a part without the added cost to me, and as a result, I ended up making the wrong decision. Had I knew that it would cost me >$400 to fix my dryer I would not have bothered with a service call. I would have just bought a new dryer. As a result, I feel cheated, and perhaps should have taken the online reviews more seriously!

If you need to repair a dryer, go somewhere else -- Yale appliance, for example.

good guys!

excellent prices, no pressure when I was looking to price a new stove and fridge.
The BEST thing about them was their honesty and commitment to helping me with my kitchen- I have a weird kitchen layout with narrow spaces, and they were able to dismantle my new stove and fridge in order to get it into my condo. they assembled them in about 10 minutes, no complaints, and did not charge me for the extra labor. Seriously. I had bought a stove from Home Depot, and instead of dismantling, they told me that I'd have to wait another month for ""an expert"" to install it, because they'd have to dismantle it. No thanks. I will always go to them for my appliance needs.

after buying from the big box stores in the past....i am so glad to have found d boy maytag. the sales staff helped answer all of my questions and the price was competitive.

the delivery was on time and the two men answered all of my questions on my new laundry set.

D'boys a place that should not be in business.

YES run don't buy! This is the worst customer service I have ever recieved!! Not only do they refuse to admit when they are wrong they refuse to correct the situation! Yes they do lie. I had an appliance repaired, one I purchased from them: then less than 3 years old. It took 1.5 hours and over $300 to repair when it broke less than a day later they came to repair it and ""oh my"" this time when I was not being charged it only took 45 min for the same exact service call. Their service charges are through the roof and they are rude rude rude!!!!
