Brewer Fire Department fights structure, car, trash, woods and various other types of fires. Its more than 30 personnel are trained to the operations level. The department has a boat and a cold water rescue suit, and is trained for water rescues. It ahs multiple portable pumps that are used for removing water from flooded basements, as well as buildings where fire sprinklers or other pipes have broken. Brewer Fire Department s public education department offers classes in the Brewer Public Schools every month. It uses nationally recognized programs to teach young people how to be fire safe. In conjunction with the city health inspector and the code enforcement officer, the department inspects schools, public buildings, and all businesses, including restaurants, motels and retail places for fire safety. The department is headquartered in Brewer, Maine.
