    Absolutely Delish!!!!

    Provided by

Absolutely Delish! I took my friends from Miami to this place who were not sushi lovers and they fell in love. I love the deep fried snapper aka wavvy rock roll and the bar-b-que salmon roll. The presentation is fabulous. The ginger dressing for the salad is fantasic!!! Don't forget to eat the pickled ginger with each bite of the sushi---so amazing!!!!!

    Tops in Nashville area

    Provided by

Hanabi is perhaps the best kept secret in Nashville. This place isn't super great, but it's best around, in terms of food, pure and simple. Being new to the Nashville area, I can't figure out why certain other place in Brentwood is far more popular - sushi there is clearly pedestrian, wouldn't measure up in bigger cities. Hanabi, by contrast, would measure up well.

    Best sushi EVER!!!

    Provided by

I lived in San Diego for over 20 years, and I can tell you unequivocally that this is the BEST sushi I've ever had! My boyfriend, a meat-and-potato Texan, has now become a sushi addict because of Hanabi. Both Tony and Aji (sp?) are amazing sushi chefs -- the food is gorgeous as well as yummy -- and everything is incredibly fresh. Have a Hanabi roll -- it's fabulous!!!

    Authentic

I lived in Japan and Hanabi is my favorite Japanese restaurant in the south. They have a warm and inviting atmosphere and the food is authentic and wonderful. We drive 2 hours from Alabama specifically to eat at Hanabi.

Hanabi has terrific sushi (both raw and cooked) and superb beef and chicken teriyaki. Try the eel-- it is the best ever!

    Always Awesome!

    Provided by

We have been going here for over two years and this is by far the best/freshest sushi place in town. We have gone every where and no place tops this one. The owner is such a hard worker and is always there. The servers come and go but we have never received bad service. Everyone is friendly and the sushi is amazing!

    BAD SERVICE WAITRESS!!!

    Provided by

Service was very bad, slow and totally not nice. Only one lady working on the floor. And she was talking on the phone all the time. No refill water. BAD BAD BAD. How come they do business with hiring only one waitress on the floor.

    Five stars- Wonderful experience

    Provided by

I usually don't take the time to sit down and write a review on a restaurant, but this time it is well deserved. Our entire experience from beginning to end could not have been better. The staff was extremely friendly, courteous, and helpful. The restaurant was immaculately clean. The food was out-of-this-world delicious (even for a sushi snob like my husband). The prices were completely reasonable. I will absolutely be dining here again. Great job, Hanabi!

    Suspect sushi

    Provided by

Pleasant service but after eating the rainbow roll was up at 1:30 am. Not pleasant. The fish on top of the roll just didn't look right and obviously wasn't. Other items may be okay but I'll go for sushi elsewhere from now on.

Wonderful Food, Great Service, Beautiful Restaurant

    Provided by

A friend recommended Hanabi after I was tired of continually waiting for a table at another popular Brentwood Sushi place just down the road. After I ate here I never went back to the old spot. Hanabi is extremely clean with beautiful decor and has a great selection of sushi and Japanese cuisine. I have been back several times and have always been treated very well by the staff. Everyone is outgoing and friendly and have gone above and beyond to make my experience better than expected. The food is EXCELLENT!! The sushi is always fresh and the cuisine is great as well. I know that every restaurant may have its ""off nights"" but please don't overlook this place because of one bad review. i highly recommend you try it for yourself. If you don't you will surely be missing out.

    great sushi terrible service

    Provided by

We've been going to Hanabi's for a year. At least they are consistent. Every time we've gone, we got very good sushi, and miserable service. Last time, our appetizer came after we finished our dinner. Plus they brought us the wrong dish. They ended up giving us a discount, but they were less than hospitable.

    Authentic and refreshing

    Provided by

I have tried a couple of sushi bars around town and found this one to be very authentic and refreshing. The Hanabi roll is terrific if you like like deep fried foods and the Wake Up roll will really wake up your mouth. It takes a little while to get your order so don't be in a hurry when you stop in for some really good food.

    Best sushi in town

Hanabi has the best sushi in the Nashville area. The service is always wonderful. Try the morning sun and the sunset rolls. They are the best. No other restaurant compares.

Forget the habachi - Try Hanabi!

    Provided by

I have been very fortunate to live in cities with fantastic sushi restaurants (San Fran, Chicago, D.C.) and when I moved to Nashville two years ago, I was concerned I may not be able to find restaurants up to par. While I have found good to very good sushi (we have tried them all), I have not been blown away until I ate at Hanabi. My wife and I dined there on a Sunday night with our friends, one of which is a very accomplished executive chef at a Nashville hotspot. We ordered some appetizers and asked the sushi chef to create us something. What they created, caused us to break out the camera and take pictures! First let me say about the menu that it is very extensive with dishes you will not see anywhere else in town. A quick start with the house pickled vegetables really gets the palate ready to tackle the more intense flavors. If you are very adventerous, try the monkfish liver. You really could make a meal out of the appetizer list alone! As far as the sushi, there is NO more creative and extensive roll list in the area. From the deep fried rolls like the wake up to the clever square designed parthenon, the flavors and textures mingle beautifully leaving you very satisfied. Also, the nigiri are the perfect size with the right fish to rice ratio. The fish is always of the highest quality and if you have any questions, just ask the very talented chefs. The only downside is the wine selections don't do the menu justice. The selection is limited and not anywhere as exciting as the menu. I am a self proclaimed wine dork though so it may not be as big as a deal to others. You are better off selecting a good sake. I highly reccomend a visit.

Best Sushi and Authentic Japanese in TN

    Provided by

I LOVE this restaurant. I have eaten a lot of sushi in more cities than I care to count. While this is not the best sushi that I have ever had, it is VERY good. Everything is always fresh and delicious. I never have to worry about the quality of the food. Another important area where they excel is the originality of their sushi. You can get a California Roll here, but you can also try one of their interesting house creations or even request something that is not on the menu. Try the Hanabi Roll at least once. It is beautiful and tastes great. And the Miso soup is always made fresh and doesn't taste or look like the ""dirty water"" instant Miso that a lot of other restaurants try to pass off as soup. \r \r If sushi is not your thing or you are with people who don't want it, its not a problem. Hanabi has a large menu of authentic Japanese offerings to accommodate most picky eaters. \r \r The staff is very friendly and you only have to go a few times before they treat you like a regular and learn your name. I recommend that you sit at the sushi bar. The chefs are quite skilled and very friendly. \r \r I have become a regular here as I feel it is the best place in town to get reasonably priced high quality sushi. Plus, if you go during their ""happy hour"" you can get some GREAT deals!

    Best Sushi in Nash

    Provided by

I have been going to Hanabi for about 9 months now and it is the BEST sushi bar in Nashville. I have tried others but none of them compare in quality or value. Not to mention that the staff here is great, always friendly and helpful. You should definatly go in, sit down at the sushi bar and order one of their signature rolls (I highly recommend the Hanabi roll on presentation alone!) Even if sushi isn't for everyone in your party, they have a great menu of some other Japanese favorites. I think if I ever have to move away from Nashville I'll beg them to relocate with me!

    wonderfully fresh sushi

    Provided by

we went there for dinner on Thursday, July 5, 2007 and ended up sitting at the sushi bar with John, the chef. we had a very nice evening and wonderful sushi. I expect they have a large enough lunch sushi crowd to move their fish inventoruy and keep things fresh. it was the july 4th vacation week so I expect the place was dead becasue so many out of town, needless to say we had the place almost to ourselves. \r on the food, order the yellow-tale appetizer - it's either a yellow tail neck or cheeks. it comes grilled and was fabulous, my wife and I loved it. we had the normal rolls and shashima. everything was prepared nicely and timely. we enjoyed the conversation with john who explained the meal to us as well. I would recommend this for any sushi lover.

    Solid sushi

    Provided by

I have been to Hanabi twice and had sushi once. I had a salad roll (wrapped in cucumber) and tuna nigiri - both fabulous! Great presentation, freshness, quality. The sushi is served on a square, white plate vs. the bamboo platters Im used to. I liked their miso soup too actually fresh sliced mushrooms & green onions. The house salad is typical dressing is ginger-based, but its pretty good. The vegetable tempura is very good as well. Definitely worth a try!

    Wonderful Sushi

    Provided by

I have been here twice so far and I absolutely love it. Although the quality is not quite as good as what I am used to getting in LA, it is by far the best I have found in Nashville. I usually just order plain sushi instead of the rolls because the sushi has such great flavor that it seems a shame to cover it up with the other things in the specialty rolls. The selection of sushi is also quite impressive. The only problem is that the service can be a little slow but everyone is very friendly so it isn't that much of a problem. You should definitely check this place out.
