Pulpotomy
Dental caries (cavities) and traumatic injury are the main reasons for a tooth to require pulp therapy. Pulp therapy is often referred to as a "nerve treatment", "children's root canal", "pulpectomy" or "pulpotomy". The two common forms of pulp therapy in children's teeth are the pulpotomy and pulpectomy.
Root Canal Treatment
A pulpectomy is required when the entire pulp is involved (into the root canal(s) of the tooth). During this treatment, the diseased pulp tissue is completely removed from both the crown and root. The canals are cleansed, disinfected and, in the case of primary teeth, filled with a resorbable material. Then, a final restoration is placed. A permanent tooth would be filled with a non-resorbing material.

Orthodontics
Some people are under the impression that no orthodontic treatment should be started until all of the adult teeth are in or even until a person is done growing. This traditional view is now known to be only partially true. While Dr. Banks waits until all of the adult teeth are in for comprehensive treatment (full braces), there are many orthodontic problems which can and should be treated at a younger age. Early orthodontia may not always be able to prevent the need for comprehensive orthodontics, but it is often able to guide healthy growth and development and to prevent progressive problems that would be very complex and challenging to treat later in life.
Invisalign Orthodontics
Here's how it works: Specialized computer software helps us design a plan for moving your teeth from their current positions into the best possible alignment. This movement will be broken down into perhaps several dozen stages. For each stage, the Invisalign company will manufacture two plastic mouth “trays” or “aligners,” one to fit over your top teeth and one for the bottom. You will wear this first set of trays for two weeks, for a minimum of 20 hours per day. You will then move on to the next set of aligners in your series to accomplish the next stage of gradual movement. You will keep doing this until your teeth are correctly aligned.
Braces
At Kitsap Kid’s Dentistry, all patients are screened for orthodontic needs at age 7 and periodically as they grow up. This is because there are certain dentoskeletal (teeth and face) functional and developmental issues that are best treated in childhood, typically around 7-9 years old. Early correction of these issues promotes healthy growth and development and minimizes unrecoverable side effects including facial and skeletal asymmetries, dentofacial trauma (broken teeth) and tooth impactions (teeth being stuck in the bone). Orthodontic issues addressed at this age include anterior crossbites, posterior crossbites, severe overbites, underbites, impactions and severe crowding. These are treated with appliances like expanders, deimpactors and partial braces (two by four’s).
