Sumatra Cafe & Bakery

Our first visit won't be our last. This is a small cafe at the corner of Lakewood and Oakfield that is worth seeking out. I'd been hoping to find some Indonesian dishes but was still delighted with the Mediterranean influences.

Sumatra is open for breakfast and lunch with the lunch menu available until 7 pm when they close.

I had a mushroom and brie soup that was to live for and my friend had a tomato bisque that was delicious if on the slightly sweet side. Our sandwiches were made with fresh bread and the fillings were just the right amount for a light meal. The salad was small but the dressing was big on flavor. Their tea choices are eclectic and the coffee is French press. We were too late to try the bake goods but will certainly go earlier in the day to sample them.
