DISHONEST•INCOMPETENT• LAZY•CONMAN *JAMES MARKEY* The worst realtor in Florida. Avoid this man like the plague…unless you prefer an unprofessional, lazy, indifferent oaf who NEVER answers his phone Or maybe you enjoy getting ripped off, or paying $100 for 5 minutes of his time in which he assures you that everything is going great until he is asked to actually do some work. This man needed to be told how to verify employment and then lied about finding something on our rental record, refused to provide proof, and then refused to answer his phone to let me know what was going on. He charged us $100 for his own special “preliminary background check” and then after we paid him, HE NEVER ANSWERED HIS PHONE AGAIN! My wife and I were in a desperate situation being new to FL during the snowbird season. That, combined with the crazy political climate, means that EVERYONE AND THEIR MOTHER IS MOVING TO FL(the last free state not bordering Mexico) Unfamiliar with of the seasonal market trends, we found it exceedingly difficult to find a place that was reasonable w/ an annual lease. As I said, we were desperate, so we agreed to meet JAMES MARKEY to view a condo (a dump btw). First words out of his mouth were, “I hope this is the right place…never been here before”👌🏼Talk about a confidence booster…He showed up looking like he crawled out of bed and he didn’t even bother to have the place cleaned. The place looked like it was out of an episode of “Threes Company”. I went to open the saloon style doors (lol) to go into the kitchen, and the moment I touched it, it fell right off the wall. He had us fill out his “preliminary” background check assuring us that the place is as good as ours as long as we have no evictions or felonies (which we do not) two days go by and nothing…so I call him, no answer, then I text him asking how the background check is going… At which point I had to tell him how to verify employment by leaving a voicemail for my wife’s boss which he could not figure out how to do… two more days go by so I text him again…At which point he texts me, “Found something on your rental history” at which point I called, and texted several times,(all to no avail) pleading with him to explain and provide proof because this is my 3rd lease in FL and both prior landlords did the same check…also both prior landlords were willing references on my application, and were more than happy to talk about their experiences with me as a tenant.(I even had a co-signer lined up! That’s how big of an emergency this was!) I provided all of their information for him to call, he refused to call or respond …he just took our money and that was it. He didn’t even have the respect to speak to me on the phone. (I’ll post screenshot of our conversation) AVOID JAMES MARKEY AND MARKEY REALTY LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!! They could care less about you or your situation.

Markey Realty handles everything with professionalism and care. I was treated like family and as if it was their home. I would definitely use Markey Realty again if I were in the market!! Thank you!!!

Do NOT use Markey Realty in Bradenton. They are unprofessional, provide poor customer service and don't understand the real estate market. There are many great agents in the Sarasota/Bradenton/Long Boat Key area, so steer clear of Roger and Carol unless you're ready to be badly burned. Liz H
