This letter is to inform you as to one patients care. My wife went into the hospital for a heart catherazation on Thursday the 17th of July. The procedure was performed on Friday.
When she arrived back at the room her bed had not been make. She was laid down with just the blanket, which was folded longwise to cover her leaving both sides exposed. Her bedding was in a ball at the bottom of the bed. The bedpan that was used by the other patient was still in the bathroom unclean where it remained all day. The other patient had checked out of the room earlier that day.
I ask the RN if she could order a food tray since my wife had not eaten since 6pm the night before, she was very short with me and said she had to handle the patient. While handling my wife she told my wife “this is what you get for crying wolf.” This was very upsetting.
Several more times we ask about the food tray. Because of a paperwork problem, she was not discharged until after 8pm that evening and a food tray was never received. I went down and bought food back. The RN said she should not have eaten it, as it was not on her diet. Then said, “Well at least you eat.” Her attitude was one of I really do not care.
Over half the beds in that section was empty, therefore there is no excuse for this poor service. This quality of patient care reflect poorly and the hospital management.
