    Great+food.

    Nice location, seating, atmosphere

    Provided by

This is a solid place. I wouldn't put it in the extraordinary realm because I think the drinks are a little small and a little too sweet, and the food is OK - seems like microwaved dare, nothing made by scratch. But the atmosphere is very chill and the crowd is interesting. So overall, not a bad spot.

    Good Times!

I had a great time at a holiday party held here, but it would've been nice to hear the conversation. The drinks were superb! Then two friends brought me here for an easy going afternoon for delicious apps and desserts (highlights of the whole meal).

    Classier than most

    Provided by

The Living Room isn't your average Boston bar. It certainly isn't Fenway/Red Sox-style or a hole in the wall and it also isn't the Oak Room. It is somewhere in-between. It caters to the young professionals, which is a nice change from the majority of places around town (which are dominated by the 21-24 year olds). It is located close to the North End, by the water, which is a nice location, and even has some outdoor seating, which you could be lucky to get. When I've gone, I sat inside in the ""living room-style"" area on couches and cushy stools. The martinis are their specialty and they have at least 30 on their menu ranging from the Butterfinger to the North End Cosmo. The drinks are very good. The bar has a nice classy atmosphere, while retaining the casualness of Boston in general (Boston, being not very upscale as a whole)

    Awesome place, will definitely return

Absolutley awesome place. The music was good, the food was great, and the martini's knocked my socks off. I had a blast.

Avoid this place if you can

    Provided by

I've had to visit this place twice over the two year interval (my friends decided to go there for drinks after dinner), this place is just getting worse every year. The staff is extremely rude, the atmosphere is nothing special and the drinks suck, plus you have to wait forever to be served. There are much better places out there for the money that you are paying. Will not go there again, lesson learned.

    GREEEEAT!

    Provided by

I have been to this restaurant many times and it just keeps getting better! The food is outstanding and fair priced and the drinks are great as well! Every time I go here my girlfriend and I have an AMAZING dinner and drinks, followed by some great dessert! To top off the night we head across the street from the restaurant and have a wonderful walk along the water with great views! Overall I would rate the living room a 5+! I recommend it to everyone who wants a great night with someone special!

Bar - Masquerading as a Restaurant (Badly)

    Provided by

I was looking for a nice, but not stuffy, restaurant for brunch - this seemed to fit the bill. Not even close. They call themselves 'homey', the word 'slovenly' is more appropriate. The food was mediocre at best, the coffee the worst I've ever had, cream was served in an espresso cup - and it wasn't cream, but milk. Just really, really bad if you're looking for decent food and service.

    Charity

Every year I do the Avon Walk. A few months back I decided to organize a wine tasting party that would include an auction to raise money for the cause. I chose The Living Room as the location because it's proximity to the financial district for the after work crowd. The management was extremely helpful with all the organizing and the staff went above and beyond to help make sure the night was successful. Some of the staff even made donations themselves. The food was yummy, the wine was flowing, and the night was a HUGE success!!!! At the end of the night when I went to settle my tab for the party I was pleasantly surprised to find my bill far less than I expected, the owner had arranged for a portion of the bill to be taken care of. His donation made a big difference so that the cost wouldn't cut in to our profits. I will definitely be using them again next year for our second annual wine tasting night!!!!

Worst Dining Experience of my Entire Life

    Provided by

Unfortunately, my friends and I decided to spend New Years Eve at The Living Room. After paying over $200 for entrance, mediocre food and one glass of champagne, an EMPLOYEE (bartender) of this establishment actually screamed obscenities at my party. Why? Because we asked her to shut the door while we waited in line for the ladies room. She was holding the door open, letting in frigid air so that she and her friends could smoke cigarettes and m*rijuana (it won't let me type the real word). While working.\r \r After being called every name under the sun, I notified a hostess who did nothing about it. When I went to order a drink, the bartender scowled, whispered and pointed at us. When I emailed the manager the next day, he promised a prompt resolution. 29 days later, he finally emailed to say that nothing would be done. NOTHING. \r \r I am not expecting a lot but really? When I drop a decent amount of money I expect yummy food and a fun time. Not bland, boring food and to be screamed at in public.\r \r THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE. It is a waste of your money for horrible service, no parking, mediocre food and overpriced drinks.\r \r STAY AWAY!

I am a fan of the Living Room and go there frequently. Like the former reviewer said, service is not at its best on real busy nights (Saturday) when everybody is out there, but it is a real jewel any other night. Most of the time I can get a couch and chill with some real comfort food at reasonable prices with my friends. I had a bunch of friends in the dining room with a big party (12) and the only problem was that took time for everyone to decide what to order with all the great selections - especially the appetizers! The drinks are not watered down and they use name brands in the well. The staff is overall very friendly and competent. The giant TV's are great for watching the games. Try it for Brunch - it is a real score!

    Very Poor Experience

    Provided by

Manager and Owner are the rudest people ever. I would highly suggest not going here. I took colleagues here once and was mortified after we received poor service with the GM ratifying the staff?s inappropriate actions.

    Excellent private party venue

    Provided by

I just had an engagement party at the livingroom. The reserved area with couches and high top tables was perfect with plenty on space. The drinks were reasonably priced and the service was excellent. The appetizers served could have been better. I would highly recommend the livingroom. The prices, service, and ambiance were good.

best chicken sandwich in the city

    Provided by

the grilled chicken panini is the best chicken sandwich i have ever had. It comes with proscuito, sun dried tomato, fresh mozzarella, and pesto mayo on focaccia bread. I dont even like mayo but this is good. The atmosphere is nice as well, the couches are very comfortable. I havent been at night yet but from what I hear it is a great place to hang out. If you go try the chicken sandwich.

    great experience

    Provided by

I went to LivingRoom last night and had a blast. My girlfriend had dinner there last night to beat the Valentines Day rush. She had some ""chick"" martini, i didn't try but she liked it enough to order another. The food and service were both outstanding. For the most part the waitress left us alone but checked in often enough to meet our needs. This is the type of place that my girlfriend and I could visit again or my buddies and I could vist and have an equally good time. I highly recommend Livingroom to anyone 21-40 looking to have a good time and good food.

Avoid if you go for food

    Provided by

As group of over 10 people, we went out for dinner Sunday September 23 and although we enjoyed the first hour (sitting on those fantasticly comfortable couches) the food was discusting. Everyone in the group does not recommend this restaurant. The service was slow and we found out some waiters were sitting on couches while we were waiting for orders to be taken. Definitely NOT the place to go to entertain a group of people.\r \r I ordered what they called seared Ahi Tuna (and it was completely cook and not fresh.\r \r Needless to say we won't go there ever again!

    Worst service ever!

    Provided by

Too much attitude! Bartenders are rude, can't ever get drink because they too busy with themselves. If you ever do, it taste horrible and overpriced. Even manager and the owner, believe it or not, are very rude. Never would go back. Don't recommend you do either.

    Great Drink Selection

    Provided by

The rating is only for the drink selection and consistent pours. Several of my favorites are on their list, but I don't visit too frequently because 1) too crowded 2) tough to get a drink ordered at either bar. Last couple times I've been there the number of rowdy drunk people almost outnumbered the people just trying to have a good drink and talk. Get there early if you want a seat; otherwise, be prepared to always be in a 'traffic' lane. Some of the appetizers are good.
