I was all excited to look for a nice restaurant for the coming CHINESE NEW YEAR!! I have family coming from overseas this year so I wanted to try out the food in the restaurant before taking them.
While I was ordering, I was told that the restaurant is changing style and couple of dishes that are on the menu might not be available. So I ordered what they said that was available. Eventually, one of the vegi dish came after I sat down for 30 minutes. then guess what I was half way through my dish and I was told they DON'T HAVE the rest of the order!!
I only had vegi after I sat down in the restaurant for 45 minutes. They gave me the menu that they don't do anymore for me to order!!
*** THIS IS THE MOST RIDICULOUS RESTAURANT I HAVE EVER BEEN TO ***
My 11 co-workers and I went to New Shanghai with a reservation for noon. We placed our Dim Sum order and by 1:30 the only thing we were served was a plate of friend rice. We finally walked out and to make matters worse, they refused to comp our ""meal."" Do yourself a favor -- visit one of the other eateries in Chinatown! This place is HORRIBLE.
Myself and some co-workers had reservations to celebrate a recent engagement at New Shanghai today. After an hour + we had only rice, a few app's and drinks and our food was no where to be found...it was never made. After waiting that long with no respect or answers as to what was taking so long we were so disgusted that we left! Still hungry. Worst service I have ever seen!
Brought 11 people there for an office celebration - and made a reservation so they would know to expect such a large group. First off. the staff was confused when we ordered Dim Sum, they threw plates at us and we had to repetedly ask to order drinks. After 45 minutes of sitting there we had nothing to eat except 1 order of chicken fingers and rice. They even tried to pass off someone else's order on to us. We left after they told us that our order was 'cooking'. Came back to the office still hungry, but I guess it gives us a good story to share with the 2000 people we work with.
Thanks for making our colleague's celebration so memorable.

The setting is comfortable and elegant for Chinatown, with white tablecloths. We had to ask for water or refills a couple of times. The food was a cut above: the boneless barbecued ribs appetizer was good though a bit dry; the scallops with black bean sauce were excellent. Even starred dishes aren't hot.

My fiance & I went on Valentine's day. Our waitress took over 20 minutes before coming to us & 1st & only time. We ordered & asked for 2 drinks. When the food was dropped off the drinks were not we again had to ask someone for our drinks & extra sauce since they supplied us with a very small dish & we never got it. Not once did anyone come to see how it was or if we needed anything. We waited an hour after we were done eating & still no check. As we put on our jackets to leave a waiter left it for us. This place wasn't even busy! There is no excuse. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being excellent) the service was a minus -100!!

If it wasn't so good, why would there be a line out the door every day around noon?
This is a must for anyone working in downtown Boston who like Chinese food and doesn't want to spend a ton ($6 for entree with rice and soup). If you do choose to visit here, try and beat the rush and go before noon. If you are into spicy food, try the Sczechuwan (there is no way i spelled that right) Wanton. I was an advid fan of Wanton soup, but since having the Hot & Sour I can never go back!
