Great place to stay when visiting Bosotn

My fiance and I went to Avenue One for Restaurant Week. The restaurant is open in the lobby of the Hyatt hotel but it's still classy. In fact, romantic. There's a nice loungey sitting area right next to it. Our server, Juan was courteous and professional. I got the petite eggplant napoleon for my appetizer. I am not sure how it was supposed to come out but it was cold. The cheese did look like it was sitting out for awhile but it was still delicious. My fiance and I both got the grilled rib eye steak and we both agreed that it was flavorful and just plain yummy. The chocoloate lava cake was a nice small portion so I didn't feel super full. We did however, feel like we were the only ones there who weren't tourists. I would recommend this place.

We went there for Thanksgiving night. Actual restaurant was closed; the dinner was served in the hallway (which was absolutely horrible!!!) The menu was 5-course dinner and it was ok. But the service was awful. First of all I made reservation 5 days before, they could not find us in the list, I called up twice to confirm, they never asked my phone number! They gave us a nice table, the dinner, waited were ok, but nothing special. For the first drink we had to wait about 20 minutes and all the time they would switch the plates and bring the food it would take about 15-20 minutes. I almost fell asleep. It was not crowded in there and while others were still eating waiters started to clean up the tables around take the chairs and tables outside from the hallway and making such a noise. It?s not worse it to pay this kind of money and have horrible service.

Just went back last weekend and something has happened to the fondues! We ordered a blue cheese fondue which was decent enough, but the classic chesse fondue was awful! I don't know what went wrong, but it was almost inedible. I don't know now if I will go back.

Ordered the pre-theatre menu, the 2 course meal. Menu a bit limited but did find 2 choices I liked, sirloin steak & chicken dish. The 4 of us ordered the steak & it was outstanding! We had caesar salad, mussels & shrimp appitizers. The mussels were superb and the best i've ever had anywhere! The caesar salad was great as well. The service was impeccable. The wine, dirty & choc martini's were awesome. The meal was great but cocktails pricey. They said allow 2 hrs before the theatre and since we did not order dessert, we were in & out in 1 1/2 hrs and still had plenty of time for a quick cocktail at the theatre before going to our seats. A most pleasant experience & look fwd to going again the next time I am in Boston, whether it's for the theatre or not. I highly recommend Avenue One.

My favorite restaurant in Boston! Avenue One features fantastic food, the best service anywhere and wonderful entertainment!

When you walk into Avenue One and look at the menu you get the feeling that you are about to have a great dinner, but by the time the appetizer arrives you begin to realize that might not be the case. We recently went to Avenue One before going to the theater; although the staff was friendly the food was below average. The Calamari was overdone and the ""Crushed Tomato Sauce"" it was served with might as well have been ragu. my wife ordered the Tart which came out cold and by the time our dinner arrived we were wondering if we would have time to eat it before the show. However, we didn't need to worry because after a few bites we didn't want any more. The chicken was dry and flavorless and although the sauce for the braised lamb was tasty the lamb itself was overcooked.

I went to this restaurant after it changed from Swissotel to Hyatt and vowed never to return. My friends had been telling me how it has changed and to try it again as we are so close. I got dragged for dinner and regained trust in my friends - what a change, food was awesome, waiter quick to please and everyone appears happy.

This restaurant comes up way short on service. It is a great location to go before seeing a show at the Opera house but we do not recommend it. The waiters were complaining that the hotel doesn't give them a host. Drinks and food were extremely slow in coming and some of the food was cold. The waiter tried his best. But the problem is in the kitchen and the management. There are too many restaurants in the area to settle for something mediocre. I wouldn't go back.

Perfect place to go before the lion king show's, its right around the corner and has great ambience with the adjoining lounge. MY kids enjoyed the jazz that play's every Thursday night and the staff were wonderful, we highly recommend this restaurant.

My family had dinner before the Lion King and it was really wonderfull. The Staff was very friendly and attentive. The food was excellent and the presentation was amazing. We just had a perfect dinning experience. Even though it was busy, the staff was very aware and helpfull in making sure we were on time to the performance.

The worst experience of dinning out with family, we had a reservation in advance for five adults. On arrival, we were told that some one called to change the reservation for two. This reservation was made in person and months ahead. Order for drinks took about 30 minutes to serve, some of the drinks were wrong, another 15 minutes to serve the correct drinks. Order the dinner, so that we can enjoy our dinner in time to walk to the theater for the show. Show was to start at 6:30 and we left the restaurant at 6:20 and dinner was never serve. We notice people from the other tables were also complaining about the service. I spoke to a family member party of 8 adults where also leaving without having there dinner serve in time. I would NOT recommend this restaurant for a family going for the show.

What a great place for a meal before a show down the street, or across the street at the new opera house. They'll even let you nip off for the show and return afterwards for dessert! Good service, too.

The hotel charges $28 to park overnight, but there's a lot across the street for $18! I would highly recommend ordering breakfast in bed. Very nice hotel with good service.

I've stay at this hotel for 17 days in the past month and I like it. It was walking disting to a lot of good resterants in the area. Service is good, but the should change their buffet breakfast some time, you can only take so much of the same thing day after day. Rooms were great, but they shouldn't charge you $3.50 for a bag of M&M's

I have stayed here on several occasions and have never been disappointed. Not sure I would call it a bargain (how did someone get a $119. room rate?) but still think it was worth what I paid. Staff was outstanding and I enjoy meeting the other guests - people from all around the globe. Give it a try!

I stayed here on 7/4. For a 4 star hotel, I was very disappointed. At noon I left my bags at the concierge, and went sightseeing. At 5pm I went back (checkin was 3pm). My room still wasn't ready, and I stood at reception for 20 mins while they tried to figure out what they were doing. They finally upgraded me to a suite. But after 45 mins of waiting (and 2 trips to the concierge to get them myself, and finally a call demanding our bags within 5 minutes or we're checking out) I was fed up. We were now late to our meal reservations, and got very late to the Esplanade. Yes I know it's a busy holiday, but if I'm going to pay $150 for a 1 night hotel stay, I expect much better service! I've been soured on Swissotel, and would not return there again.
