I am a graduate of the Boston Language Institute's TEFL program. When I decided to enroll in the program three years ago, I never imagined how much the experience would impact my life and future career. It was a rigorous program that challenged me in many ways. The trainers were all very knowledgable and dedicated. I appreciated the fact that most, if not all of the trainers, had been in my shoes. They had gone through the TEFL program and were aware of our needs. They also had a range of experiences that gave me insight into all the available opportunities in this field. When you complete the program, you will not be an expert teacher overnight. The field of TEFL/TESOL is wide and varied and what you get out the TEFL program experience is connected to the amount of work that you put in. That being said, I continue to learn, grow, and improve. Without a doubt the TEFL program equipped me with the skills to teach adults and children both overseas and in the U.S. Since graduation, I've taught at various language schools in Boston, as well as overseas in South Korea. I am currently teaching in South America. Although each teaching experience has shared some similarities, there have also been major differences. In some cases available resources and class materials are few and far between. That being said, I am incredibly grateful to my former BLI trainers who taught me how to be creative and think outside of the box, whether I only have a white board and marker versus having a electronic smart board. .
This school is the best I have attended for language learning! From registering over the phone, to the front desk, and to the best part, my teacher, I loved my experience. I had been searching for a place to improve my Arabic, which I had been studying on and off (and very loosely) for the past 2 years. I finally decided on BLI, only to find that registration finished was closed, as the fist class would start in two days! Michelle was very nice and was able to register me over the phone within minutes. No problem at all. Everyone I encountered there was very respectful and professional. My teacher, Soheila went above and beyond anything I could ever ask for in a language teacher. She would repeat sounds that were foreign to us, making gestures, raising her voice to emphasize parts of a sentence... Soheila is a master! She is also very patient - in Arabic II, there is a lot of grammar to learn, which is tough in any language, but especially in Arabic! She was adamant that we get it right! I can't wait to take more classes here. Thank you BLI, and shoukran jazeelan ya Soheila!!
The Boston Language Institute program is outstanding. There is 5 levels on this program, and I'm on my third level now and the results are great. I'm very happy taking french classes with Ana Talpe, she is doing a phenomenal job,I'm very lucky to have a teacher like Ana. The class size was small enough so that people get lots of chances to participate and despite my lack of french skills, she never makes me feel embarrassed. She is very professional and has such a good energy. She is also excellent at explaining why things are said as they are and also giving us helpful tips on how French is really spoken, not just textbook style learning. She is always available if we have a question. Easily one of the best teachers I've ever had. The class are small and the people in it are enjoyable to learn with. The staff is very pleasant and friendly especially Claude Jeanne (Associate Director) Given the good experience I have had, I will be signing up for the next levels. - Frankie -
