I just finished my third dessert from this new, interesting place and it was the most incredible dessert I've ever had. I'm a dessert expert of of sorts, searching for good desserts from all over the world, and the carrot cake I just ate from there was the best carrot cake I've ever had, and I've had a lot of them. I just moved from Los Angeles and they have fancy dessert places like this all over the place, with desserts that look incredible, but don't taste so good. Ive been to most of them. I expected this place to be the same, but boy was I wrong. I got three desserts (key lime, a lemon thing, and the carrot cake) and they were all incredible. The only reason I did not give this place 5 stars is because I didn't know what the place was from the outside. Happened to be driving by with my family looking for somewhere to eat, and we passed by the place that apparently just opened. I had to actually go into the place with my son, leaving my wife in the car, just to see what it was. Had I not been curious I would have never found this place and I would have missed out on this dessert. I just saw that they serve food too so I'm going tomorrow to try that and hope it's just as good. So to the owners- Please label your store better!!!! Let people know what you've got because it truly is incredible!!
I went here with some old friends last night and was really excited to find this new local gem. This place is hip. The interior design merges vintage, industrial, and Asian influences. There's a very cool mural on the wall. Indoor and outdoor seating. It shares a patio with the Dubliner (another great place). The service was excellent. Staff at the restaurant were polite, knowledgeable, and attentive. The restaurant has a full bar; serving mixed drinks, craft beer, and wine. While I'm normally a beer guy and appreciated the restaurant's craft beer selection (I almost got the double IPA), I wanted to try the drink selection. (The restaurateurs behind Kapow! have a reputation for creating great dink menus.) Under the recommendation of the waitress, I opted for "The Spicy Lover" which was excellent. And spicy is the right word choice as it has kick, but a nice sweet side to offset it. The food was really good. I got the pulled pork steam patties and Beef Yukke. Both were delicious. The portions at Kapow are nice. They don't stuff you but are filling and they're priced so you can try several menu items in a single sitting. I highly recommend Kapow! to anyone looking for a high quality dining experience in a casual atmosphere. The restaurant is a lot of fun. I look forward to going back.
Went there last night because I hadn't heard of this place, and I know most places in deerfield/boca/delray. Decided to meet a friend there, where the place was small and clean and looked like a very cute typical sushi place. We got there pretty late for a monday night and there were only a couple people there. However, the sushi was THE BEST I've had in a VERY long time. It was fresh and good portioned, presented specialty rolls creatively, which looked amazing. The fish didn't taste like some other places, where the fish can taste a bit fishy/bloody which is gross. We shared a tuna tartar, which was on point. I ordered a rainbow and spicy tuna roll, which were again, excellent. At the end of our meal, the sushi chef and owner Joe came over and brought us a small piece of mochi for us to share. He asked about our meal and then told us a bit about himself. It so happens, he's had MANY years of experience and worked at NOBU for years (if you know good sushi, then you'll know NOBU is on another level) as well as many finer sushi places around the country. He also told us he as a special freezer, which freezes the fish after being butchered to -30Celsius. He explained the importance of it to kill bacteria and better the quality. Awesome place and food, defintely must try.
