I have been going to Calusa Veterinary Center for 11 years. our vet is Dr Krane and I have never met a more dedicated, knowledgeable, caring and amazing vet ever! I also have to say that the nurses, techs and staff are extremely special. There aren't enough compliments I could give to stress the Incredible care we always receive. We have used the emergency room, Dr Fuentes the dentist, and the rehab services with the amazing Ellie the therapist and everyone is exceptional. I can't say one bad thing. Calusa goes above and beyond for their patients and for those of you who complain about the cost You Get What You Pay For. It really isn't that big of a difference compared to other Boca vets. I can't thank Calusa enough for taking such good care of my babies Sophie and Henry.

Completely unethical.

This vet is not a "vet" and doesn't actually care about animals. Read all the other reviews about how they will let an animal die and have ZERO ETHICS. I wish I had read these reviews before I brought my dying dog to this FACTORY. Zero empathy and are total bullies. There was only one or two front desk staff that had any sort of "care" or pleasantness. The entire staff that I dealt with were nasty and un-empathetic. They tried to charge me $1,200.00 for medicine & treatment that wasn't even administered and told me to come pick up my dog or put him down - so matter of fact, no empathy. No ethics in this establishment. I carried my dying dog off their vet table and took him to another ER vet who actually cared about the animals and their families. I am filing a report with the AVMA and ASPCA as well about the treatment of animals at this facility...that they don't care to let animals die.

I truly regret bringing my 17 years old cat to this money grubbing place when he fell severely ill on a Sunday. They wanted to run unnecessary tests and torture the dying Animal. I paid $1100 for one day and my cat got worse. They told me he was getting better over the phone. When I went to get him and they finally brought him to me after 40 minutes and demanding to see him he was 50% worse than when I had visited him the night before. I was also upset when I saw him the night before. They shaved his entire arm, without consent, for the IV. His neck was drenching wet with red marks from all the sticking to take blood & all my poor baby did was groan in pain while I held him. When I called to come visit him they played games that it was shift change and I needed to wait. When I demanded to see him they brought him to me in such horrible shape it hurt to even leave him there for the night. All they wanted to do was guilt me into running more tests, bringing in specialist, and up-charge me on what I had agreed to pay. Simply unbelievable what a horrible place this is. They did not do what was best for my pet they kept him clinging to life out of selfishness for the dollar. When I saw my baby on Monday morning I took him to my personal Vet. When I got to TLC my Vet was honest, kind, & caring. At TLC they told me the best gift I could give my cat was to put him to sleep. I would never recommend Calusa Animal Hospital. They made my 17 year old cat suffer for no reason- please do not use them. It is heartbreaking to me what they do to animals they are trusted to care for. I would have paid any amount to save my Pet, if that is what he needed, but what he needed was a kind caring Vet who knew it was his time. He did not need them hurt him by running tests and pocking him with needles. HORRIBLE PLACE They deserve a ZERO STAR RATING

You should be ashamed

ZERO compassion for animals.

I have been going to Calusa as well as my mom on and off since they opened and of course we knew what their priorities are; first and foremost money, second how fast they will get the money, and third you’re pet. My mother stopped going because they refused to treat her dog since she didn’t have $600 right then and there in the middle of the night when he had a stroke. They were going to transfer him.

My dog who had been taken in there a year ago was told that she is over dramatic and nothing is wrong yet I had to pay the $80 visit even thought I did not see a vet.

Well today, my poor little dachshund rescue lady who I loved more than anything in the world was at the end of her battle with really bad lymphoma (which they failed to find and could have been saved that year ago)

This morning and from last night she started chronically bleeding, puddles of blood. The most horrific thing I ever had to experience. She had bled out so much I couldn't believe she was still breathing. I called Calusa since it is the closest to my house and another vet recommended I go for the euthanasia since my vet is all the way in west palm and I wanted Lady to not have to go through this much longer.

Calusa told me "payment is required upfront" I begged for some form of payment plan, they said "you can call the humane society and go up to west palm" I explained how my dog is bleeding to death with cancer and she won’t make it and I pleaded and pleaded and they flat out said "sorry we can't adjust payment"

I get how this is a money making business but how freaking incentive do you have to be to allow an animal go through more pain when you are supposed to be the ones having compassion!!!

This place has zero compassion! They milk you for money and if you don’t have it then and there they will send you on your way regardless.

What kind of people runs this place?

I HIGHLY advise NOT going to this place. It's great that you have money to get the treatment and hear the soothing wind chimes, but who do they have their best interest in? NOT the pet, THE MONEY! Shame on the people that work there that think since you make more than other vet’s that they are more superior. Calusa is nothing more but shameful heartless people and I really pray no one else has to experience what I did the last moments with my dog. The last thing you want is people who say they care about animals treat their lives based on a dollar.

I would add more stars if it was possible. From the more than competent vets to the caring staff this is the only place for our Campbell.

I have never ever written a review before but this place is such a scam that I felt I had to warn others. I have had pets all my life and know that for a lot of vets it's really just a business. I understand that and can even respect that to a certain degree...I mean that's why people work after all but this office just goes too far. They prey on people who love their animals to make a quick buck. I took two of my dogs there and spent over 5k which I thought was ludicrous but they insisted that my dogs were very very sick and this was absolutely necessary. So of course I did what they said. A few months later my dog was vomiting and I took him back. They said he needed a lot of work done ($2500 worth) because once again he was "very sick". I said enough is enough took him to another vet who charged me $85 and my dog is perfect now. Will never use them again. Beware!

For the sake of our cat we took him there. They did stabilize him and diagnose the problem. After the $500 bill for what they did so far and a recommendation that he stay with them for 3 days at a price of over $2000 for so many unnecessary tests and expense. So we took him home with a catheter and a bag not to they're approval. In the morning my wife tool him back and the catheter was removed by the vet with a warning that he had until the end of the day to live without help (which could have been true). I moved all my appointments for the day and came home convinced that we had to put him down. Both of us called every clinic to get some care but with no luck. In desperation my wife accepted an offer from a staff member to take him from us because we couldn't afford to treat him, then the staff member changed her mind leaving us with very limited options. Emotional exploitation.

Luckily we got him into TLC clinic. One night with a catheter with no unnecessary test and a bill one sixth of the price we took him home in the morning with some meds but a perfectly happy cat.

Good Office but...

The staff are nice and so are the techs. Most of the techs are nice and take the time to listen and really seem to care. A few times that I went---out of several years of going there, we got a tech that seemed to be in a rush and I wondered why they were there and their job seemed too routine to them. Once in a while, I saw that my vet or myself had to do the work of the tech because the tech didn't do it in the first place. However, this was an exception and most of the time the techs take the time to listen and seem really happy to see my dog. We have been going there for years and our vet is very nice and I really appreciate the time she takes. She is very Knowledgeable. She always goes out of her way and I really trust her. However, the prices that are charged is way too much. It seems like it is the facility that makes up the prices, not the vets. The person that posted that they charge for everything is correct. When I leave, it is nice to know that I have taken care of my pet but my credit card and bank account are very unhappy and I feel so burdened with the costs. Some things I don't feel need to be charged for (i.e. cutting an animals nails or claws) when there are so many charges on top of that. It all adds up. It seems to be the management (who aren't around to answer to the prices) that makes up the prices. Some people that I know that really liked this office stopped going Unfortunately because of the high prices. If it weren't for my vet, I would would not go here. The office has a lot of good technology that most other offices which is good if special diagnostic tests are needed. If there is an issue going on with your pet and advanced diagnostics are necessary, this is a good place. The customers do pay for the nice buidling and the large number of staff there. They used to have a rewards card where you get a % back on the money you spend for future services, they stopped doing that. Bottom line---amazing vet---high prices

Way Over Priced!

I began using Calusa in 2004 when my then dog was very ill and they helped save her life at EVERY cost of course. I was grateful for what they did for her but now that I have two new fur-babies that don't require much attention it seems as though they are trying to nickel and dime me for everything, not to mention they have raised their fees tremendously. I wouldn't recommend going there unless you have a bank account full of money that you don't need only because they are very expensive and they don't budge on their fees. Very much a shame because I do like the doctors there, they are very caring but I can't afford to spend that kind of money just for shots.

Our family brought in our dog into see the vet , she was very sick and they helped save her life. I was very thankful for them and their care involved, they helped give us our dog back. Everyone was pleasant and is was very reassuring that they have a vet on 24/7. I would recommend everyone to take their pet to them. Thank you !

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I have been using Calusa for a couple years before they built their new building. Now....it is a total money grubbing over priced place where they seem more concerned about getting every dollar from you. The staff is rude, the techs talk about other clients (I heard them talking and it wasn't nice) and the doctors don't really seem to care. I was actually concerned that my dog wasn't getting the best care from the attitude of the staff. It is a shame but after the last couple visits and the way I was treated....I ran from there fast and fortunately found another vet that really cares. My last visit was the last straw. I went in for after-hours emergency because my dog was limping. It cost me several hundred dollars of tests and xrays for them to tell me it was nothing to worry about and just rest her. They tried to impress me with their high tech toys and computerized xrays but it was definately overkill and unneccessary costs.

My suggestion is to find a place that cares and treats you right and you will find a great doctor behind those doors. Don't get sucked in by a shiny new building. It is a facade.
