The McLean County Health Department provides a range of public health services for a population of nearly 160,000 people. It strives to protect and promote the public's health in areas, such as community assessment, communicable disease and animal control, and environmental, personal and mental health. The department also focuses on health promotion and emergency public health preparedness. The McLean County Health Department is engaged in the assessment and analysis of health conditions and development of local health policies. Its mental health services include crisis intervention, adolescent substance abuse prevention, and support, training and intervention for developmentally disabled children and adults.
