My wife and I ended up getting some custom work done by Aaron Hamilton @ Aerochild on the Southside in Birmingham. Some shops and artists are snobby and generally unfriendly, you should not have that problem here. Aaron is genuinely the nicest guy on the planet, his prices are great and he does good work. Most importantly to me, Aaron will talk to you about your ideas and give you feedback, letting you know why something won't work and offering alternate versions. He can show you a stencil (like a washable tattoo) of the design on your own skin so you can decide on final design and placement before the permanent ink goes on. Remember, every artist has their own unique style. ALWAYS research, look at the artist's portfolio to make sure the particular artist you want to use can do the type of design work you want and in the way you want it done. YOU are the paying customer who will have to live with the design in permanent ink on your own body. Research first. My wife and I are both very happy with the work Aaron did for us both. He was willing to talk to us about our ideas before we had the work done. We would definitely use Aaron again. The shop is very easy to find, it's clean, not too cluttered like some tend to be, and Aaron showed interest in what we wanted done and obviously cared about doing a good job --- and he did do a great job on our 3 custom designs, and charged us a very fair price for the work. I highly recommend him for anyone looking for tattoo work, whether its your 1st or 50th piece.

I had my navel pierced here, and I couldn't be happier. The owner, Darin Cooper, was the one who pierced me. When we walked in, we were instantly greeted and he got right to helping me pick out jewelry and doing the paper work. We went back to the piercing room, and he sterilized and marked my belly and then I laid in the chair. He didn't use clamps on me, he just used a piercing tube, but I liked it that way. He told me to take deep breaths, and then he pierced me! He put the jewelry in it, and all I could say was, 'that was it?" It was quick, and relatively painless. The piercing didn't bleed until later, and it was my fault that it bled, and it's been healing quickly and nicely. I received in depth after care instructions, as well as a sheet to take home reminding me of what to do. I'm very pleased with the care I received, as well as my piercing. I would recommend this place to anyone!
Awesome employees. Best prices in Birmingham, overall friendliest and most comfortable tattoo parlor I have ever been in. I have gotten one tattoo here, it was a few years ago but they have promised to retouch it even though it was so long ago. I plan on getting two piercings there very soon, one I have been nervous about for a while.... but I know I will be comfortable here! Great place.
