    Love it!!!

    Provided by

I am a huge fan of just about every form of Mediterranean cooking, and I have to say that there is so much good food coming out of the kitchen at Amici. I cook for fun, though I would do anything to quit my job and become a chef. Well, that's not happening anytime soon. But I have saved up to take cooking classes in Italy, and Greece. I really love so many of the dishes at Amici, because it reminds me of my time there. The fish mixed grill platter features some outstanding prawn, which has the same taste to my palate as what I ate in Greece. My experiences at Amici have been really satisfying, and it seems like it is getting better and better there

Food: average; service: average; wine: average, $: expensive

The restaurant had such great reviews, yet the experience was disappointing:\r The restaurant setting is terrific for a date: dim lights, intimate, charming and quiet. And on a tuesday night, parking was easy. \r Our server was slow to greet us, seat us, bring bread and water, yet he was quick to pick up the bill, twice, before we had a chance to pay. \r Waiter aside (I hate to knock down a restaurant for the behavior of 1 person working there), and onto the wine: The wine selection is poor, and by the glass, they offer a dismal selection. They offer Sutter Home at $10/glass! I had a glass of pinot which was awful. \r The main event, Food: The appetizer salad that my date and I shared, with hearts of palm, artichoke and Parmesan was delicious. I chose the seafood pasta. Terrible: The pasta tasted store-bought, the seafood selection consisted of a few sad strings of squid, 8 micro-clams and bits of mystery white fish. The sauce was a tomato base with a good consistency, yet there was so much salt in the dish, that one could taste nothing but salt. Dessert: Tiramisu. A solid choice. Tasted home-made, and fresh. The coffee was horrible.\r Finally, the bill: So far, it would seem like a typical dinner, average in most every way, except for the whopping $140 bill. 2 glasses of wine, a shared salad, my pasta, my date's piece of fish (which I never tried), a shared piece of tiramisu and 2 coffees! $25 for my pasta! And the best part: $2 additional charge for splitting the salad! That p'd me off... Anyway, all in, an average place, for a high price.\r \r My recommendation: If you're looking for a good Italian food (and wine) near to Amici, a great ambiance, and a reasonable price, try Dominick's instead.

    Always fresh and delicious

This place has never disapointed me whether I'm there for lunch or dinner, week day or weekend, inside or outside. The service is also excellent. Light dough pizza is a great starter.

    Autentic italian

    Provided by

For an autentic italian esperience Amici is the best, this small rustic restaurant has it all, the food is very good, dont miss the crab ravioli, the chicken paillard with the lemon sauce and the tiramisu', good selection of wines with reasonable prices, the best romantic patio in Beverly Hills (better than the cielo) and great service.\r Highly Recommended!!!

Romantic Vine Covered Patio / Attentive Staff / Delicous food in an Authentic Italian Atmosphere

    Provided by

My wife and I celebrated Valentine's Day here this year. I dropped off my own wine earlier in the day (corkage fee only $15) and asked them to bring a bottle and the prawn special to our table (which I picked out when I dropped the wine off) without prompting. While my wife was reading the wine list asking suddenly she had delicious prawns prepared as in any small Tuscan village and a bottle of her favorite Piedmont wine in front of her. We had a six course meal, every dish recommended by our waiter, who shared a glass of wine with us later in the night. They didn't charge us the corkage fee on that bottle. The food is very authentic and the value is incredible. The lamb chops with dijon sauce were some of the best I have ever had. Desert is truly Italian, which to many Americans leaves something to be desired, though we enjoyed the mixed ice cream dish we chose. This is an delightful romantic restaurant, with a vine covered enclosed balcony. Valet parking is cheap and quick right next to the restaurant. I highly recommend for romance and something different in Los Angeles.

Bad Customer Service, Ate in the Dark!

    Provided by

After being recommended to me, I went there with three friends. We ate outside because one of them commented on how badly the main dining room smelled (not like food). They brought out bread and dipping sauces which were very good. Took our wine order and brought that out. After that it took them another 15 minutes to take our order (it was not busy), then another 30 before they told us the food was on the way. I received the wrong soup and my friends did not receive the pasta that was supposed to come with their meal. Since we were in a hurry we just paid our bill (after asking for it three times) but I was very disappointed with the service. It ruined whatever enjoyment we would have had with the food.

    Not competitive

Charming location and good service but the same food is available so many other places with better quality and far more value. Seafood pasta at $24.95?

    Not a bad Italian trattoria

    Provided by

It seems to be a popular restaurant but the space is a bit small so it's a bit crowded when it's full house. Service was good. The thin-crust pizza that I had was not crispy enough but the lobster spaghetti that my husband had was delicious. In general, it's not a bad Italian trattoria for a casual family dinner.
