No-nonsense, delicious Sushi

Everything about this place is minimalist, but pleasant -- concrete block walls, white-on-white decor. The dishes are the same way -- I've seen more artfully presented sushi in my life, but then I didn't order any of the more exotic items so maybe I missed out. Service was quick and attentive, and the food was delicious, including the ""house"" sake. The spicy tuna in the roll was chopped a little too finely b... view more

Best Sushi place in LA!

I had about 15 pieces of Sushi and 2 hand rolls at lunchtime. I got really satisfied and enjoyed them a lot. The Omakase course came with Tuna, Albacore, Scallop with truffle, Crab with miso, stirred Kinmedai(Alfonsino), Toro(fatty tuna), and another chopped Toro, Anago(eel), Baby yellowtail, Beef with garlic, incredible Uni(sea urchin), Ikura(salmon roe) on a stirred Salmon, Aji(moonfish), Saba(mackerel), Crab Han... view more

Quality and Fresh Sushi in Bamboo trees.

I have visited many traditional sushi restaurants in Tsukiji district of Tokyo for last ten years and it is one of my top enjoyments I am fortunate to have in my life. I found Sushi KiraLA in Bevery Hills to be equal in taste and quality compared to those in Tokyo. It is very hard to find a trained sushi chef in LA area but KiraLA has now one of those rare talents. \r Bamboo trees outside are real and so refreshing.... view more

They are one of those overpriced for un-spectacular sushi restauran. Overated and nothing special. Average presentation, unprofessional average service. Can you trust their quality if they have different sushi chef every time you go there? Fresher , better and cheaper fish can be found elsewhere such as Yu-N-Mi.

Good, too expensive

I love sushi. Not just americanized super rolls, but actually sushi. Sasabune, Nozawa, Hamasaku, have some pretty fresh fish and they do sushi well. Sushi Dokoro also has very good fish but is just missing something. The decor is forgettable and the prices are way too high (blame the beverly hills rent). For two people our bill came to $155 (with tip). And we didn't even gorge ourselves. I was personally still... view more

First Tier LA Sushi Bar

Dokoro is on par with other first tier sushi bars in LA sush as The H*mp, Sasabune, Nozawa, Mori and Nishimura. Their sweet shrimp will still be moving when served, ala ""odori"" style. They also feature some of the best Spanish mackerel and o toro in the city. The sushi chefs have Tsukijii connections which explains the ultra fresh selections. A pleasant surprise is the comfortable and warm atmosphere for a plac... view more

Pure, unadorned sushi

The quality of the fish selection and the level of execution of each dish reflect what true Japanese cuisine is all about. The enormous amaebi nigiri-- all others served in neighboring restaurants appear synthetic by comparison-- is simply divine with a dusting of gold! You will not believe the size of the amaebi served at this restaurant. Our Carte Blanche meal also included Matsutake mushrooms flown in from Japa... view more
