I went here for the 1st time on lunch from work and the staff is very friendly. This place has a really great lunch deal for less than $10 that fills you up. I had the tempura shrimp and with teriyaki chicken. I will def go back

We always sit at the bar. The fish is always fresh, and the service is great. A bit more expensive then average but very well worth it. Must try a sashimi platter, it always differs depending on what's the catch of the day. Also try a spicy tuna hand roll Kaz style (warning it's addicting).
This is the best restaurant for sushi. It is so flavorful and just melts in your mouth. You will want to order everything on the menu. My wife and I go here once a week.

Wow, I don't know what place these other people go to when they think of boss sushi because the service here is always friendly and easy going. I eat at boss at least 3 to 4 times a month and always enjoy myself. \r \r The sushi is so good, especially something called the nate blondes roll. They're tuna tar tar is declicious also. The plating is also done beautifully.\r \r The funniest thing about this place is the decor. Whoever owns this restaurant loves race cars and wants his patrons to know it. The nascar photos arent to in your face, but, it is unusal. \r \r Love this place and will continue to eat there as long as their doors are open.

I have no problem waiting a while for food after I order it, but it should never take an hour for sushi, and if it does, it should be right, and if it isn't what I ordered, the staff should not argue with me and tell me that it is what I ordered. There are so many sushi restaurants in la. Super slow service plus unprofessional service means that I am never coming back.

Take a look at the spread, Boss received 5 STARS from 24 reviewers and 1 star from 8 reviewers, almost all of which write in similar style, claim thery were threatened or assulted, and most importantly, admit they were banned. Not a single 2, 3 or 4 star review in the spread. Also, they seem to complain about the rolls and that the sushi was ""too warm"". Clearly amateurs - sushi rice is not supposed to be cold (like you get at a supermarket). Also, if you order some novelty cut roll, there is going to be mayo in it - it's listed in the menu. Boss Sushi is a superb place to enjoy your sushi, for traditionalists and adventurers alike. I wonder, what type to obnoxious misfits would get banned from such a friendly place?? I'll tell you, all the narcissistic ""Generation Me"" types that should all go in the Large Hadron Collider.

The sushi is mediocre - expect a lot of mayonnaise and tough, warm fish - the prices are really high, the service is slow and the management is borderline belligerent. During my last meal there, with other tables in the restaurant, they started stacking chairs, cleaning the restaurant and generally closing down. Not the service I would expect or even tolerate after paying over two hundred dollars on a dinner for four. What really bothers me, though, is that all of the positive reviewers on the site wrote no other reviews. Is the management itself writing these reviews on how ""great"" this restaurant is? I have no idea, but I cannot imagine how anyone would leave this restaurant with anything positive to say.

Until the other night we were frequent customers, but we will NEVER RETURN. After asking for them to replace an undercooked tempura roll the owner/manager refused to make a new one and then insisted on charging us for it (keep in mind this is a $13 roll and we consumed hundreds of dollars of sushi). He then berated us and told us to ""be careful"" of ever letting him prepare food for us and suggested he would do something sinister to our food. We tried to explain that this is not the way to treat a group of 7 local customers to which he explaind ""Beverly Hills customers are horrible!"" and proceeded to BAN us. Keep in mind this is a Beverly Hills sushi joint! If you must try it I would sum it up as an ok place to go when you want to be low key with better than strip mall sushi at Beverly Hills prices...

I have known the men @ Boss since Sushi Kokyo...the reviews below are riddiculous! and lovely spelling by the way. Any grown adult that isn't intoxicated would know better than to slander a restaurant or any other small business this way. I guess some children have nothing better to do. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone for a unique flavor experience.\r The sushi is amazing, the service is complementary and i love the casual atmosphere to just enjoy with my friends and family!

I just want to touch on the below review. The story is entirely 100% correct -- when attempting to send back a dish that was undercooked, the owner notified us that he would not take it off the bill NOR would he cook it further for us. We responded that this was unfair. The owner then told us that we better ""WATCH OURSELVES IF WE EVER CAME BACK TO THE RESTAURANT."" The manager chimed in and noted that we were all ""banned from the restaurant"" and that ""Beverly Hills customers SUhCK""-- all this at the end of our $300 meal. \r \r Bottom line is our entire party of 8 people were threatened. I am not sure whether he meant he would SSPIT or URINATE in our food, if he would POISIN the food or if he and his co-workers would PHYSICALLY ATTACK us if we came back -- who knows. What i do know is either way, THREATENING TO PHYSICALLY HARM A PERSON (whether by tainting one's food or by physical contact) is an ACTIONABLE ASSAULT. \r \r If you are into being ASSAULTED by the staff during your sushi dinner, please, stop by Boss.

So, basically, one person in my group was a vegetarian and ordered a vegetarian entree while the rest of us ate several hundred dollars worth of sushi. The sushi was decent - I've had a lot better in L.A. ... and in airports and at stadiums and in Kansas City and in Wal-Mart - but it was ok. The vegetarian entree was not fully cooked. Said vegetarian asked if they could cook her food or, alternately, take it off the bill. The manager told us that because he made it, we had to pay for it and he wasn't going to cook it. When we tried to explain that, actually, we would pay for it if he simply cooked it, he told us that he wanted to poisin us and that we were banned from his restaurant. Like, Joe Biden, let me repeat that for emphasis. The. Manager. Told. Us. That. He. Wanted. To. Poisin. Us. (!!!!!!) And. That. We. Were. Banned. From. His. Restaurant. He also told us that Beverly Hills customers are the worst customers. The thing is, I'm from Cleveland, Ohio...

I am sorry, I don't usually write reviews but I have to this time. You know...its so sad to see the comments people make on why they will not go to a restaurant. Like the ones listed below...""the smell"" or ""sewage problem"". You idiots!!! It smelled because there was a SEWAGE PROBLEM....get over it!!!! If you have a sewage problem in your house are you gonna move out or get it fixed? \r \r Thats exactly what they did...they got it fixed!!! and now you can go enjoy sushi there like I do. I don't have my nose up in the air, ""oh I only eat at katana or koi, etc..."" I eat where it is the best...Simply, its here at Boss Sushi!!! Take my word for it and order ""omakase"" from any of the chefs at the sushi bar. You wont regret it!!! You do not come here for the service, I will admit, but you come here for the best sushi in town and probably top 20 in the nation. \r \r I am a frequent here when I am in town! At least 3 times a week. I make it adament that as soon as I arrive in town to go eat at Boss, if they are open!!! Come try the best sushi you can have in this fickle city! Sewage problem...Please!

The reason I am writing this review is because I think some clarification is needed here. As mentioned in previous reviews, Boss did have a plumbing problem. I agree that it was really dissappointing and I actually did not go back for a while. However, in the past 2 months, I've been back several several times. I actually brought my sister who lives in Manhattan and she told me this is one of the best sushi places she has been to, in Manhattan or anywhere else. The fish is always fresh and quite frankly, you can't beat the value. Lunch specials are really a steal. You get a ton of great food and fresh fish for about $12. You just don't see those prices in LA sushi places that charge you $5 just for miso soup. Boss Sushi has definitely come back and is once again my favorite sushi restaurant in LA, and I've been to just about all of them. For the price and the quality of the food, you just can't beat Boss.

I've eaten numerous times at every single overhyped, overpriced sushi restaurant in major metropolitan US cities and Boss is my favorite overall. You just can't beat the Boss PP#1, Nate Blondes, or Red Snapper Ceviche. Go there, order these three things, and then ask yourself honestly if you really want to go back to spending a fortune at Matsuhisa. Sure, there are a few places like Nozawa and Asanebo that do a better job with plain and simple sashimi, but for creative dishes that still highlight the superior quality of the fish, Boss is the place to go.

I have only wrtten one review on citysearch. I only write a comment when i feel the NEED to. I will say this about BOSS sushi: DO NOT GO HERE. It smells bad, REALLY bad. The sushi is overpriced and it is gross. The spicy tuna is never fresh and tatses like its been in a freezer for 3 years. Please dont go here

Absolutely delish! The service is great. The ""Boss"" is extremely talented and even got me to like salmon sushi, which I've never liked anywhere else. The sauces are delicate, the sashimi a work of art, and everything is delicious. Try their sparkling sake and don't miss the umebushi soup!!!

This used to be my favorite Japanese place to eat lunch. However, after their sewage/plumbing incident last week, the eatery is just not how it was before. I really liked going there, but after today where they messed up my order an my coworkers orders.....NO MORE. I didn't even order anything from the sushi bar. The service is horrible and I do not recommend anyone to go there. They didn't even give our table a descent discount or comp!!!! \r \r What goes around comes around.......

BOSS Sushi looks like an upscale sushi restaurant. The service is phenomenal and the food is even better. This is not one of those weird looking sushi joints with mismatched furniture. It's very pretty with a smokey blue motif. Have the Lunch special, you'll have more than enough to eat. Our server actually recommended we not order an additional roll on top of the lunch special because we wouldn't have room for it. Sure enough, we didn't even finish our first lunch! This is a great place for a date, business lunch or special occassion. The lunch crowd wasn't super busy and it wasn't super loud, but it was SUPER. Bon appetite!

I've been going here for the past year, mainly for lunch. It's reasonably priced (considering its Beverly Hills), and the food quality is great. The customer service has never disappointed. The atmosphere is very chill, and it?s a great place to have lunch with coworkers or friends. I recommend ordering the lunch bento box, it gives you a bit of everything.
