Franklin Neighborhood Center is a community kitchen training center operating under Community Action Agencies in Michigan. Community Action Agencies are public and private nonprofit organizations established under Economic Opportunity. The center offers real-life classrooms where participants learn the skills required to obtain jobs in the growing food service industry, while providing meals to its senior nutrition programs. Franklin Neighborhood Center offers a10-week course, covering various aspects of the industry, including food handling, kitchen safety, sanitation, ordering and receiving food, and preparing mass meals. Its classes are held from Monday through Friday. The center provides each student with multiple certifications in different areas of the food service industry. Community Action Agencies also assist each student with resumes and interview skills. Franklin Neighborhood Center is located in Battle Creek, Mich.
