Parisers Bakerynice... rated

I stumbled upon this bakery while out fixing my cell phone and I am glad that I did. I needed cupcakes to celebrate my mother in law's birthday adn this place, open on a sunday, did not disappoint. We had gotten 3 different flavors (carrot, yellow cake with choc icing and wh...moreite cake with vanilla icing) at $1.25 for a cupcake was a value. The frosting was good--not heaped too much to where it overwhelms everything and not too heavy or sweet that you wonder why they are trying to overcompensate. We have all had those cakes. This was a nice balance on the frosting and I was impressed with that. The cake was a little dry but overall fine. They had, at least, 12 different types of fancy tea cookies ($8 a dozen) and cakes, danishes and full cakes as well as brownies, canolis (1.75 each), and napoleons all for sale. Definitely a good place for me to keep in mind when I need a cake or dessert for an event. I wish I had found it sooner! view less

Great food - a real find

Since moving cater-corner to the old location, Miss Shirley's now has over 150 seats (including outdoors during fair weather), but is still difficult to get into on the weekends. I suggest before 10 or after 1:30 to avoid a wait... Foodwise, it's inventive and they seem t...moreo use the very best ingredients. The crab dishes are a bit pricey, but they use MASSIVE chunks of crab that must set them back a piece. Not to be missed are the Fired Green Tomatoes (or any dish containing them), Sweet Potato Fries, or the Spicy Shirley Mary. Great female chef, and a good place to people watch. They update their menu every 6 months, so a trip to their website is probably in order. Parking is at a premium, so try behind the place or their sister restaurants Alonzo's/Loco Hombre, or S'ghetti Eddies. No reservations accepted (EVER!), but space is available for large parties during the week.view less

I'm hesitant to give any resta...

I'm hesitant to give any restaurants five stars, ever. Anywhere. But WK deserves it- from start to finish a meal at Woodberry is unlike any other in Baltimore. Unbelievable locally sourced produce, organic proteins and some of the best drinks I've had anywhere. Don't miss: T...morehe Gov't Mule cocktail and any of the brunch punch pitchers they serve. Also, must have their flatbreads and the CMP for dessert. Brunch is as good as dinner (shirred eggs and the bake shop in a basket- oh my!) and you'll need a reservation for both. Tip for families- we often head to WK right at 10am for brunch and can be in and out in less than an hour (that's the only time I find it to be a kid appropriate dining situation)view less
