I new to pet ownership. Actually, I became a pet mom because I'd ""picked-up"" a dog for a friend that was out-of-town at the time the adoption of ""his"" dog came through. Turned out that after my friend's return, he was unable to take/keep the dog, so I then wound up keeping the dog and since I was going to at least have to keep the dog for a while, I wanted to make sure that it saw a vet and got a much needed hair cut. So, I began searching of a groomer that could give him a cut the same day I called. I found Bow Wow. And although after I actually entered my first instinct was to turn around and leave, I didn't. The day I took my dog, there was another person leaving the ""shop"" with her pet. I spoke with her and she said she'd been using Bow Wow for some time and was happy with the services.
As I first said, I didn't like what I saw when I entered, going on what the previous customer had said, I went ahead with getting my dog groomed.
The waiting room was very tiny and not well kept. You could tell that it once was a cute little shop, but that really must have been some years ago.
When the owner came out, my dog did not act afraid of her and she petted him and they seemed cool together so I went ahead with the grooming. She took him through a tiny little door and promised me a new dog when I returned.
When I went back for him, he looked beautiful, but was more than eager, to say the least, to get out of there. I could hardly hold him long enogh to pay her. He actually bolted for the door. And even though he looked good, and smelled clean, he also smelled of smoke ... lots of it.
I should have known ... theowner sort of looked like Bette Davis in the movie Whatever Happened to Baby Jane ... lol
Anyway, although she was reasonably priced and did a good grooming job, I don't think I'll be going back. Call me fickle, but I'd rather pay a little more for a little more whistles and bells and a place that looks and is kept more clean and up to date.
I have since adopted another, and much younger dog and I cannot afford the mishap that she should catch something that she has yet to be protected against. So my search goes on, because as with my first dog, she is uber hairy and needs grooming way moreso that even my first dog did.
