Bertha s Restaurant and Bar, based in Baltimore, was established in 1972. It serves appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, mussels, rice dishes, seafood entrees and desserts. Its menu includes stuffed mushrooms, broiled mushroom caps with tomato and cheese escargot, crab soup, mussel chowder, shrimp salad, salami and onion and cheeseburger. Bertha s also offers mussels with garlic butter and capers, shrimp maurice, broiled stuffed shrimp, shellfish royale, crab cake platter, arroz con camarones, chicken staccato and steamed vegetable platter.

Good atmosphere but the mussels were very disappointing. Be prepared to remove the sand ladened beards and stomachs of the mollusks.

The food was ok. With all the hype I was dissapointed int he mussels. I was even more dissapointed with the lack of service. We waited almost an hour and a half at the bar to be seated, when we were finally seated it took them another 45minutes to take our orders. From there it was like a ghost town if you were looking for a wait. Glasses were left empty. Dishes left on the table. We were considering desert but it took so long to get some attention that we just opted for the check. IF YOU HAVE TIME TO WASTE, YOO MIGHT WANT TO GIVE THEM A TRY.

I see the bumper stickers everywhere. And I miss the place, the atmosphere, the music, the bar. But the restaurant? Well, I think there are far better places to eat in Fells. Bertha's is an institution, but stay in the bar and have a pint. It's worth it.
