it is a great course, don't get me wrong, but it's just so buisy all the time. it is also the most expensive public golf course in Bakersfield. when i pay 60+ for a green fee (+ cart) i dont' want to have to wait 15 minutes after every shot i take. i think that they make too many tee times right on top of each other and overbook the course. i even ask the guys at the pro desk if it's very buisy but only the younger kids are honest, while the older adults would say anything to get you to fork over your 60 bucks. you want to avoide the water and the houses. i asked a resident how often his house gets hit by balls and he said "all the time" all the windows are the same size so it always costs the same to get one fixed ($160). if you happen to go when it's not too buisy your almost guaranteed to have a good time. but if you don't have a lot of patience it might end up being a 6 hour headache.
Another mature golf course. tons of trees shades the course for most of the day. the course neighbors the Lairdo Prison. i always hope to see something exciting but i have never even seen an officer walking around outside or anything. top notch greens, top notch course, and a pretty good driving range/practice greens, to warm up on. usually not too buisy but there are a lot of occasional tournaments just like most public courses, so you might want to call before hand.
Most mature public golf course in Bakersfield. all the trees are fully grown and the entire course has an old school feel to it. great twilight fees (not exactly sure but i think it's less than 20) greens are supurb, nice dense fairways and unmatched overall maintenance. staff is always polite and helpful which really contributes to the feel of the course. easily my favorite public course in Bakersfield. stay classy, Kern River Golf Course.
