Founded in 1889, Star Headlight and Lantern Co. is one of the leaders in the rail, amber light and emergency lighting markets. It has maintained production in Rochester, N.Y., for more than 100 years and has corporate headquarters and an additional manufacturing center in Avon, N.Y. George Washington Jacobs was one of five founding partners of the company and the Jacobs family has guided Star Headlight and Lantern Co. through four generations of leadership. The company manufactures police and fire alarm products, such as warning lights on police cruisers, fire trucks and other emergency vehicles. Star Headlight and Lantern Co. also makes lanterns and lights for the railroad market, such as the handheld trainman s lantern. Accessories, batteries and replacement bulbs are manufactured by Star Headlight and Lantern Co. and distributed throughout the United States.
