I have only made purchases here, so I can't really speak about the doctors or appointment wait times, but I found the staff I dealt with to be very friendly and helpful. I had the same question about the "returned check fee" listed on my check receipt (it is not an actual charge!), and they explained that it was listed there to inform you of the extra charge that would be run if the check did not go through - the card/check machine prints it on there and they can't do anything about that... it does look a bit confusing, as if you've already been charged that extra amount (as I said before, not the case), so I imagine they are asked about it quite often. I really don't understand why someone would consider it so awful to have a question answered truthfully. What were they supposed to do? Lie? That possible fee IS in case the check bounces, and personally, when I asked about it I appreciated getting a truthful answer rather than a lie or an "I don't know". No one's suggesting that anyone's check will bounce. They are merely answering the question asked of them! No reason to take offense to that! That being said, I did find the atmosphere in there a bit... quiet. I think if I was going to see the doctors there, I would definitely need to bring my iPod along to combat the awkward silence. And it is a bit unnerving that the front desk is so open - I'd prefer not to have everyone in there hear all of my personal business, and it's SO quiet in there you can't HELP but hear everything! Anyway, as I said, I can't speak for the quality of the doctor's services or wait times or anything like that, but I just wanted to speak up for the staff I HAVE dealt with, since I had an experience very relevant to that other review. I just don't think it's fair to accuse someone of poor service for merely answering a question truthfully!
As a newbie to the Austin scene I had been finding it difficult to locate a top notch eye care professional. However, following the recommendation of a trusted friend; I gave Dr. Bob Joe and Associates a shot. From the outset the service and professionalism were second to none. The receptionists were friendly, informative, and in every way helpful. My appointment was scheduled with the " and Associate" Dr. Chhean (and Dr. Chhean I assure you I mean no disrespect by referring to you as the "and Assoc." I just felt it was an apt way to describe you as the other doctor in the practice.) who was absolutely exceptional in her knowledge and consummate professionalism, while drudging through what I have been told a host of times is a difficult patient. I felt at ease during the entire appointment; all of my questions were answered to my satisfaction ( I assure you there were a bunch) and was given all the information I felt I needed to take care of my vision now as well as set me on a path to a future of healthy eyes. The practice offers nothing but the apex of designer frames and fashions while keeping costs relatively affordable. All in all I had an overwhelmingly pleasant experience in my visit to Dr. Bob Joe and Associates, and for once do not dread my next years eye exam. I have found an eye doctor as long as I happen to be here in Austin. Anyone can "craft a lens" or claim to be the "master of the eye" but for my money the proof is in the practice.
The staff and Doctors are very professional. They explained information about my insurance benefits. They also found coverage that benefited me better that I didn't even know I had. I had my annual exam with them, I have always been a very difficult patient because I have never been able to get out of what the Doctors call "old technology" contact lens, but they are very patient and willing to work with me to try other options. This year I choose to get glasses after a huge prescription change and not having updated them in 5 years plus. The Optical staff were very helpful and honest. I have been very happy with my new glasses and very thankful that I got them. I had to return to the office about a month ago due to some medical eye issues that the doctors were able to monitor for me. I felt more comfortable with them knowing that they can see my eyes with all the fancy equipment they have.
