On October 30, 2015, I was making a quick trip from Houston to Dripping Springs for a dear friend's father's funeral then back home to Victoria. I left Houston at 5:30 a.m. and was travelling through Austin when a thunderstorm hit the area! It was about 8:30 a.m. and I pulled off of 35 and took refuge at a Whataburger. Before I could exit my car, the wind pushed it so hard, I started being scared! The assistant mgr let me in the door and then all power went out. I stayed at this store over 4 hours and missed the funeral. During the entire time Tim Moon (mgr) and his awesome staff took wonderful care of all the patrons. It was extremely scary and I was calling or messaging my family, just in case the situation worsened. The entire restaurant staff kept trying to assist any of the patrons in any way they could! The wind and rain got to be over 90 mph! I have videos of the happenings! And with all the power off and security systems in other buildings blaring, plus police and fire trucks sirens wailing. . . it was wonderful to have such caring staff at this Whataburger! I wanted to make this KNOWN to everyone associated with the Whataburger family--Tim Moon and the group at 801 E William Cannon #300 in Austin, TX are phenomenal! Rhonda_griffin@hughes.net

I've been to Cabo Bob's twice and ordered two different meals. Cabo Bob's is set up like Freebirds or Chipotle, but the tacos/burritos are made fresh right in front of you. They have 4 different flavors of burrito and all are very good. Because they are made in front of you, they have a more authentic texture than other burrito places. I've tried their shredded pork and their fish. I really like their toppings for both, and both are of very good quality. I especially liked the grand fish tacos. The mango pico was wonderful, and the fish itself tasted great. Another great thing about Cabo Bob's is that their soda machine has Dublin Dr. Pepper and other drinks made with Imperial Sugar. I love Dublin DP so this was a great added bonus. Overall I'd say that Cabo Bob's is the best of the bunch when it comes to cafeteria style burrito joints. They just opened their first shop about 2 months ago and I'm really hoping they catch on. They're located in the shopping center next to the wal-mart on 35 and Ben White.
I finally had a P. Terry's veggie burger last weekend and completely fell in love. First of all, a fast food place with a concern for health? Loving it! Second of all, a fast food place with an option for those of us who don't want meat or don't eat meat; amazing! They have beef, chicken, veggie burgers, cheese burgers, and amazing fries. You can get whole wheat buns, and you can add tons of fixins to make your meal even more delicious. Because the food is actually real meat and vegetables, and fresh, the meals are more expensive than normal fast food, but it's worth it. The combos cost at the max about $6.50, but the meals are filling and don't make you feel as guilty as you would if you ordered off the dollar menu from the McDonald's down the street. They also have gigantic dog treats for your dogs; we had 3 dogs in the car, one who is a very picky eater, and they split the treat and ate every last bit. I hope more of these pop up around Texas!
