I have been training with philip tamez at bulletproof for less then a year and haven't been this healthy since playing soccer as a kid, after graduating high school I had gained weight and at my heaviest was 270lbs and decided to change my life. I was the type of athlete who would try different sports from mini triathlons, indoor soccer,and softball and when I heard about crossfit I was instantly fascinated by it and started watching videos online and found a box(crossfit gym) in Austin but didn't stay there too long due to its location and price for limited classes. Another box had opened up around my neighborhood and I was there for only a few months but it just didn't feel right and I had friends I knew from school that were having great results training with Philip and I looked him up on Facebook and after messaging him he told me he was a few days away from opening crossfit BulletProof and offered me the 2 week free trial. The first day I went to bulletproof I was nervous like most people even though I had been crossfitting for a few months prior to that and it really helped that I knew some of the other athletes,and what made Crossfit bulletproof different from other gyms was that the other people went out of their way to introduce themselves and make me feel at home there. Since joining Crossfit bulletproof I have dropped down to 225lbs and have more muscle now than i had as a teenager and have more confidence knowing that although I'm not at the weight I want to be at i definitely have a strong group of friends behind me to help in my journey . When I tell people I Crossfit I usually get the " I heard that's hard" comment and inform them that everything can be modified and that Philip writes his workouts to accommodate all the athletes whether you're a marathon runner, weight lifter or a normal guy like me in his 30"s trying to get fit.

I've been going to Bullet Proof since it opened and have been working out with Philip a year before that and I've never been in better shape! It sounds cheesy, I know, but it's the truth. I've seen the change in my workouts, I'm a lot stronger. I've seen the change outside the gym from running to rock climbing and Ultimate, I'm faster and stronger and I've also seen it at home, I sleep a lot better. It's true, CrossFit isn't cheap but it's worth it! Philip is interested and committed to seeing me get healthier and stronger, when it comes down to it, I'll pay for that kind of attention every time.
Within minutes, Annie was able to structure my session to fit the specific needs of my body—it was incredible! In my first appointment with her I learned I carry my weight on the left side of my body and turn my knees slightly inward, two things I never would have learned on my own. She listened to my goals, was fun to be with and had very helpful advice! Muscles I didn’t even know I had are sore. :) I highly recommend!
