No question, this is the best spot to see a great band and sip on a stiff drink. \r
I've been here a good fifteen or twenty times and have never had a bad experience. The music is usually guitar based blues, rock, or that Americana-country genre that flies anywhere in Austin. I've never seen a bad performance. The crowd is diverse and respectful.\r
Only problems is that there are regularly cover charges, no food, and drinks are a bit more expensive than average in the area...view more. But hey-- you pay for what you get, and the experience you get at the Continental Club is worth it.view less
The Continental Club is the BEST club in Austin. If you never made it to the Armadillo World Headquarters, check out Toni's Hippie Hour on Tuesday nights. The Continental is the ONLY place in town where you can still get a feel for what the Armadillo World Headquarters was like--this is the magic of Toni's Hippie Hour.
The Continental Clus is the BEST club in town, that's all there is to it. From Tuesday's with Toni to the Blues Specialists on Fridays to the ELVIS Shows, Buck Owens...view more Bash, and so on and so on, you can't go wrong. The folks there are great, the atmosphere is great, and the crowds are great. Peanuts at happy hour. And don't forget all the Classic Cars you'll see!!!view less
This is simply one of the greatest clubs in the country. With its rich tradition and great reputation for always having good music, the Continental Club seems to be a hot spot for anyone who really like music. And if you go, you just may find yourself sitting next to Julia Roberts or Johnny Depp. You never know at the CC. And thats why bigger acts such as Rev. Horton Heat or Spoon always make a stop here on tour. As far as musicians are concerned, theres no better play to play...or go.
Almost any night you walk in, you'll hear music you'll enjoy, if you're open to roots or rockabilly. The club hosts mostly local or regional acts, with the occasional legend on tour (Link Wray or BucK Owens for example). During the SXSW Music Conference in March the bookings are more varied. Atmosphere feels like 1950's Texas roadhouse/ bar, which is really what it started out as and still is. A Houston location just opened up, but I'm sure it can't top the authenticity here. A ""must"...view more" for the out-of-town visitor.view less
