The pastries are locally made (Quack's, I think, but I might be wrong) and the coffee is tasty. You can also get a frequent customer's card, which earns you free coffee - a great perk for those of us who drink lots of it!
I will never go to Starbucks again during Sorrento's business hours. At Sorrento's there is never a long line, the coffee tastes way better, the service is consistant, and it's closer to Mopac.

I almost hate to share in this hidden treasure for fear that the lines will become so long, but I cannot believe no one has reviewed this coffee place yet. This little coffee hut is locally owned and operated with the owner there most mornings, making your cup of coffee for you. The staff is genuinely happy, cheerful and ready to make your morning a good one.
Since I am the drive-thru queen, I'm surprised it took me so long to find Sorrento's. My daughter and I LOVE coffee to a ""Gilmore Girls"" type obession. We have drank our way through many of the coffee houses here in Austin, you name it-we've tried it and there are many places with great coffee but few with drive-thru ease. We always had to fall back on the corporate offering of Starbucks to get a fix when we wanted a decent cup of coffee while still dressed in pajamas. Starbucks always has had an addictive effect of not craving a cup of coffee but craving Starbucks exact blend and flavor of whatever our coffee ""usual"" was.
One day on my way back from sitting in a super long line at the Starbucks 24 HR location, I noticed a line of cars just as long at Sorrento's. This was a morning I had a few extra minutes and I decided to drive thru and see what the line was all about. Not only did they speak ""Starbuckese"" but they created a version of my usual that has kept me coming back every morning since. They give you a member card that earns you a free cup of your ""usual"" after 10 purchases. Their coffee is awesomely nutty, rich and buttery and after a couple of mornings here, I noticed that many other coffee places I did like paled in comparison. Starbucks now tastes bitter and burnt! ON TOP OF THAT- they offer contenintal breakfast offerings from some of Austin's popular morning stops all under the same roof- bagels and muffins from Einstien's, coffee cakes and scones from Upper Crust, etc.
