I went in to Skin Zen for a bikini wax. While all the staff members were nice and friendly, the lady waxing me had no idea what she was doing. The wax wasn't hot enough so it didn't take off all the hair. She kept having to re-do areas she had just done (OW!) and then go back with tweezers. It was absolutely the most painful waxing I've ever had done because she was so slow to rip off the strips. And just to top it off, she was sweating profusely and it was dripping on me. I honestly thought I might be on a hidden camera show. The whole wax should have taken about 15 minutes - I was in there for 45 before I couldn't take anymore and told her to stop. I explained it was very painful and I wasn't satisfied. They still charged me full price. Do NOT get waxed here. Absolutely awful!!

I purchased a Living Social or Groupon or one of those discount coupons. It was for a 70 minute massage. The place is very nice, front staff was ok but not overly nice/attentive. The back ""quiet area"" was nice and peaceful.
It would have been a very good experience had I received my full massage. I paid for a 70 minute massage and was on the table a whole 40 minutes tops. The massage was very good but I was extremely dissapointed when it was cut short.
If I had paid full price for my massage, I would have complained at the time but since I didn't, I felt bad complaining. But I will not return here because of my short massage. I'd rather go somewhere and receive my full 70 minutes.

I tried this spa once, and only once, for a bikini and underarm waxing. We'll start by saying she couldn't even remove all of the hair, in either region. This was likely not due to her skills, but the fact that the only light in the room was a tall ""desk lamp"" looking thing she pointed in the direction of where she was waxing. And the light was only on one side, so I'm sure she could barely see what she was doing as the rest of the space was dark. The reason for the lighting? Well the waxing ""area"" was at the back of the shared spa room behind a curtain. So I know everyone could hear us. There was no privacy, and you have to have your cell off because everyone having their ""spa"" experience is well within a whisper's ear shot. And I'm pretty certain that everyone could even see me because the curtain didn't quite close all the way and I was the victim with the only light in the room shining on me. They were nice, but when I think spa I do not think about trying to relax in front of a handful of other strangers.

I love my monthly membership! I love my ""me time""! Melissa is always my facialist, and she does everything so wonderfully - best neck rub in the world!
If you are a first-time spa-goer, this is a great place to start. You change in a little private room with a lock and mirror, into this little towel number. (Bigger girls beware, it can get skimpy in there! If you have your own towel wrap that you feel comfortable in, this would be a good time to bring it. Just make sure it is off the shoulder because you don't want to miss the neck and shoulder rub.) There is a tote for all your knick knacks, and cell phones are to be OFF! Then they whisk you off to sit in a very awesome reclining chair - I WISH I HAD ONE AT HOME!! - and you get a blanket and the facial starts! The massages are in a private room, and the facials are kind of cordoned off areas, or ""stations"" that have equipment for handling the products.
My only wish was that I wasn't allergic to a lot of the ingredients in their products. After my first facial, I had a reaction but ignored it. After the second, I could not ignore the painful symptoms, so I talked to Melissa about it. She 100% worked with me so I could keep my membership, and let me tell you, it's fantastic! Now, we don't use anything where I would question whether or not my skin is going to turn white and peel, and I can not thank her enough for being sensitive to this.
The reason for the four stars as opposed to five is that a private room for every facial would be ideal, although probably not practical, but I felt a little self conscious going into it where everyone walking by could see me flipped upside down.

I have tried many other spas in town and I found this one to be one of the best. I found my facial to be the best ever. It was very affordable and yet the services delivered and products they use are very high end. Their services are so affordable that I get to pamper myself more often. Highly recommended.
This spa is a real treat. I was referred by a friend that frequently visits the spa and loves it. The staff was super friendly and the spa look and feel is amazing. It was so relaxing that the second I walked out the door I wanted to go back inside. Skin Zen offers many services at very affordable prices. My therapist seemed very experienced and we discussed in detail a plan for me to address my skin concerns. I have had 5 facials there now and my skin is amazing. I have people that I work with asking me what I have done differently. I tell everyone I know about this place as it is such a treat that I want everyone to experience it. If you haven't tried it then you should.
