Pros: *Pizza that I dream about at night-no joke *Down to earth, tattooed, friendly, and usually very attractive staff. *Reasonable prices *Free punk shows...cmon! Can it get any better? *the wait is worth the mouth watering goodness that results in hand made pizza! *cons: It's not located in my house :( & as for the reviewer that said their pizza ""sat under a heat lamp for hours"" I am 99.999% sure they don't even HAVE a heat lamp IN The Parlor..... is there even any ROOM for one?! Ridiculous.

By far the best pizza I have ever had. And every time, it is perfect. I am completely ruined for other pizza forever. If they ever close, I honestly don't know how I will go on. I spend the majority of my visits at eh Hyde Park location. They have a well stocked bar and Fireman's 4 + many other beers on tap. Ray is the best bartender there. My only issue is that they sometimes close earlier than what is listed on the door, with customers inside. (not too cool). \r Otherwise- it is pizza paradise.

I've rarely sat to eat at The Parlor, but I pick up orders from them about once a month or so. If you like a good thick crust and fresh toppings, the pizza is the best in town. I do agree that it's better to order a whole fresh pizza than individual slices, and the beer prices are a little high (which is why I order for pick-up), but the pizza is the best I've had since leaving Chicago.

the pizza had been under the heat lamp for hours...it was rubbery and brown...the only reason I choked it down is cause I was starving and had a few. i recommend ordering a fresh slice or not at all.

The bartender was actually complaining to regulars about how ""new"" people were ordering too much beer and food; sorry to keep you employed for that one night. It won't happen again.

The place is in an interesting area on North Loop and it was quite parked up. The place itself is a hole in the wall with a small stage. All the pizza is made a in a small oven behind the bar.\r \r The pizza I had was pretty tasteless except for a slight burned flavor to the crust.\r \r Overall, good ambience, bad pizza on my one and likely last experience.

So, excellent dough makes for bad pizza? Huh?\r \r Different tastes, I guess, but all of my friends salivate for pizza from The Parlor. It's the freshest, most yummy melty cheese with my favorite crust of all time. The only downside is that they don't deliver, but if you call in your order and show up 20 minutes later, you'll generally be right on time. \r \r As far as the bar experience goes, the beer prices are a tad high, but not bad at all for a neighborhood bar, which is what The Parlor is. The one on 43rd is an easy walk from my apartment, and there's nearly always good people watching to be had and a bitching jukebox, plus they have a full liquor license. The North Loop location (serving beer only) is where the bands play, but I prefer the 43rd place because there are more tables and more room. The bartenders are always nice if you have any sense of humor whatsoever.

The pizza is not quite as good as Conan's or Mangia but beats all the chains. It is more of a bar than a pizza joint and if you are looking for someone to wait on you hand and foot, this isn't the place. It has great beers on tap, including lots of local brews. The jukebox is effin awesome! My main complaint is the prices are high for beer...maybe a cheap Lone Star Longneck night would be great. The best thing about this place is it is three blocks from my house and I can walk there, eat some pizza, drink some beer, and then stumble back home safely. The bartenders have always been friendly, I guess some people just see the tats and piercings and assume they have an ""attitude"".

I'm writing about the newest Parlor location on 43rd and Guadalupe. The pool tables are a nice touch, but the pizza is very blah. Too much dough, skimpy toppings and a killer price add up to a neighborhood pizza place that is better for drinking than eating. They have liquor and beers both in bottles and on tap, two pool tables and wi-fi, maybe that's why I rarely see people eating but rather surfing the internet. The staff is snippy and rarely smile, the pizza is mainly dough with a handful of cheese and a sprinkle of toppings. Enjoy!

The pizza crust was doughey and bland. Too think for my tastes. The dining area is too dark and the service was non-existant. This place is not recommended.

This place is the coolest pizza joint, hands down. And if people cant handle the attitude( ie ""beat scholar"", first, learn to spell attitude). Maybe dont go. Just kidding, these guys are awesome!! Also, youre getting CHEESE ON your pizza(scholar). Ive been there plenty, and its somewhat a selfserve environment. There is no ""waitstaff"", just a few hardworking people to get you beer and pizza out in a timely fashion. This place rocks. Sexiest ""waitstaff""(seriously), rocknroll atmosphere. All around some of the best food and the most interesting crowd(including the staff....HaHa!!) Great job, incredible pizza. Thanks for keeping something real alive. The weak at heart maybe should stay away.

best pizza i've ever had in austin tx! at first i thought that it was a little price, but then i realized this wasn't a 3 or even 2 piece kind of pizza. the crust was thick but stil crispy and just right for the generous and delicious toppings. this is the only pizza for me from now on. as for the review of the people complaining about the service after they had been closed for 25 minutes-- at least you still got served the best pizza in austin after being closed for 25 minutes.

a poor experience all around. The first night we were not offered cheese, forks, or napkins. Never asked how we were doing once. The second night after the kitchen is closed, rather than apologise the wait staff executes poor service by saying ""25 min ago woulda been a good time to look at that"" when approached about it being poor service they had a ""too bad"" attitutede. Overall, not a good experience, and the pizza was nothing to rave about.

the sauce and dough used in the pizza's are original home recipies, which of course is a huge plus. the place scares off the meek, who fear the friendly-yet-unusual-types. free of college kids just looking to get drunk.

If you enjoy high quality pizza rather than the cardboard mediocrity of pizza chains, this is the place for you! Plenty of fresh ingredients to choose from (soy cheese as well) and homemade sauce. May seem a little pricey, but great value! I love getting the French bread pizza when I am out alone, or a large (and filling) pizza with friends. This is more of a neighborhood bar, that serves pizza, so don't expect a ""dining"" experience.
