I heard about the new owner, Shelly, from my friend who has been seeing her for years. Until now, I have bounced from stylist to stylist looking for someone to get it right. I have seen Shelley 4 times now and she's ""the one"" for me! She understands my hair and the style I want and what products will work best for me. Within the first two visits, my hair looked and felt healthier than it has in years! The other stylists that I met there were all warm and conversational. I like the transformation she is making with the salon decor - it has a touch of class.

I've lived in Austin since 1995 and I've had my hair colored blonde approximately once every 2 - 3 months since 1992. If you only count the times I've had my hair done since I've been in Austin, that's 60 times I've had my hair colored in Austin and I've NEVER had a stylist give me the exact color of blonde that I've asked for. I've always walked out of the salon slightly disappointed. Well, I'm FINALLY happy with not only the color but the cut of my hair. I showed Bianca a picture with the color that I wanted and she gave me EXACTLY that color. No excuses - no talking me out of it - she just did it. Of course, not everyone can have every color so I guess I was lucky that i was able to achieve the color I wanted. But it came out perfect and I was so happy. No othe stylist was able to achieve that for me. And I'm growing out my hair so I just wanted a nice trim that made my hair look healthy. I can't tell you how many stylists chop off inches when you just want a trim. But Bianca really listens to you and does exactly what you want. She's so great and talented. And the other great thing is she is so sweet and funny and great to talk to. The time flies by because she has a great personality and is the sweetest girl. If you are picky about your hair (who isn't???) and you want a stylist who is a nice, good person - then I highly reccomend going to Bianca. I'll follow her to any salon - hell, I'd drive to San Antonio to have her do my hair. That's how good she is. It's so nice to look in the mirror and be happy with your hair. Bianca did that for me. Go check her out - you won't be disappointed.

Ok so I have been going to The Color Salon for years now, and all of the sudden Paul gets terminated and I cancel my appointment that had been scheduled. Then these new people at the Color Salon call me up and remind me I have an appointment and I said, NO PAUL DOESN'T WORK THERE ANYMORE!!! They responded that maybe I could try another stylist??!!! CRAZY!!! People that are loyal customers ONLY trust their stylist, not who ever decided to come in as new owners!! I think it is also weird that they turned the salon into what appears to be a thrift store!! Also, the new owners kept all of Paul's records for his clients and will not give them back??!! How wrong, his clients are important to him, so if anyone reads this and is looking for him, now you know where to find him!!!

I just have to say something for my girls Nicole and Bianca who work at the color salon. They are two of the original stylist that have been at the color salon for a long while. So I think it is wrong to say that there are NO good stylist left at the salon. Yes I do have to admit that the changes arnt really my taste but It really doesnt matter what the salon looks like as long as I am happy with my stylist and my hair. They have both have done my hair and are Amazing!! I dont just trust anyone with my hair because I am to picky but I would definetly go to either one of them. They both listen to exactly what you want and they really do care about keeping your hair in good condition. I havent been dissapointed yet! NIcole and Bianca are both trained with the latest styles in hair coloring and cutting so they really do know there stuff! All im saying is not to juge them for where they work and what you have read about the color salon, they are really great stylist and you wont be dissapointed.

Super hair salon with great stylists

Shelley has been cutting my hair for over 10 years and see is fantastic. My hair is almost impossible to cut as it has waves, flips, a double crown, and it is thicker on one side than the other. Over my forty+ years in Austin, I have found only Shelley and one other stylist that could cut it properly. The shop is also decorated nicely and has a very elegant feel. Everyone is always friendly and accomodating. I would recommend Shelley and her salon to anyone. David Hargus

I went in to get my hair cut by Paul who I later realized had been terminated for some reason. I was offered another staff member to cut my hair, but upon going in, felt uncomfortable and out of place and decided not to. I feel like a business should maintain relationships with good staff and customers. I was treated very poorly on the phone when I inquired where he was. Overall, I would not recommend this business based off of my experience with them. The environment is awkward and the clientele reflects a business that does not match a younger (hipper) demographic. I felt like I was surrounded by the crew of the titanic, nothing against that, but for a younger person (25-32) it was not a place for me. I am a male and prefer to feel like an establishment wants more than my money for services offered, which could be matched for a lesser fee. I wish no harm to the business, but strongly feel an overhaul is required to keep the ship afloat. They should consider updating their business - great examples, Birds Barbershop, Electra Hair Salon, Grapevine...

I went into Color Salon and Boutique last week to have low lights and hi lights done in my hair. Shelly was recommended to me by a friend. Shelly, the owner, did my hair and the results were beautiful. Shelly also cut my hair and styled it. I love it and so do my coworkers, I've gotten lots of compliments on my hair and will definitely be back to the salon. I love the way the salon looks now with the new owners, its beautifully decorated and the boutique is a great added bonus. Shelly after doing my hair recommended some products to use and even gave me samples of some of the products to try out before I bought the bigger bottles. All the stylists in Color Salon and sweet and know their stuff and are a great team. I read some of the other reviews and I'm really surprised at some of the reviews, I had a pleasant experience and Shelly made sure that I was totally satisfied with my hair before leaving the salon. I will definitely go back when its time to do my hair again.

Terrific Hair Experience

I was referred to Shelly by a good friend after I complimented her cut and hair color. I have been to Shelly two times now and cannot be more pleased. She takes her time. She weaves your highlights in, not cutting in on the back or sides to save time. We are in the process of going from brunette to blonde and she is doing a terrific job while keeping my hair healthy. I've learned a lot from her regarding hair chemistry. And she is now introducing the latest in hair extensions. I'm saving up because I can't wait to give it a try. Love Shelly and love the Color Salon!!!!

MY HAIR WAS RUINED by the owner of this salon Shelly. Most of the good reviews are before she owned the salon and most of the staff gone including Paul who is praised in some of the reviews. I had been going to Paul for years and then he suddenly disapeared. I too, like the other reviewer found him at the Topaz Salon last week. Shelly told me to come in and she would do my hair. A month later I had to have 4 inches cut off to remove the damage and broken hair left after my appointment with Shelly. She was aware when I was there that I was unhappy and at one point another stylist stepped in and took over. My hair was broken and frayed on the ends. She is a terrible stylist.. A month later I went to a new stylist who confirmed the damage to my hair but felt all she could do was cut off the damaged hair and followed up with a deep treatment. She said my hair which was long and healthy (before my appointment with Shelly) had been damaged and was too stressed to highlight. I reported this in an e-mail to Shelly and she offered to give me a refund and apologized but never heard how, when or where I could pick up my refund. I was polite enough not to want to stop by unannounced. After sending her two e-mails as follow-up she never responded again to either. Today I contacted her about the refund and she said she had not written the e-mail apologizing nor offered the refund but that it was her husband that did it. She went on to be extremelly rude and yelling on the phone and did everything but call me a liar.This is how she treats customers if they complain. I could have overlooked her Father and Mother stopping by Armstrong to pick up the remainder of my hair color as she had run out. Didn't even mind that they had to stop at Furrs first for lunch while I sat in the chair and waited.... totally unprofessional!!! But... ruining my hair is where I draw the line and then to be treated badly and not even called or sent an e-mail by her! This is the first time in 30 years I've ever left a bad review on any service I've received. Please heed my warning and look elsewhere so you too won't be dissapointed.

Paul at The Color Salon has been my stylist for several years. When I called to schedule an appt. recently, I was told he was no longer working at the Color Salon. In dire need of a cut, I decided to let Khady cut my hair. I specifically asked her for a trim ONLY, following the lines of my existing cut. Instead of doing what I asked for, she whacked off 4 inches of length and totally changed my hairstyle. I was speechless and needless to say will never go back.\r \r Meanwhile....I found Paul! He's at Topaz Salon on South Lamar, phone 851-2070. Yay!!

I walked in for an appointment with a 6-week-old bad haircut. I told Nicole what I wanted and the issues I have with my hair. I expected a trim because I thought we'd have to wait for it to grow out more. I was pleasantly surprised - no - amazed! She gave me the texture I wanted and talked with me about how to fix it myself once I got home. She suggested product, showed me how to use it. She was very positive in our conversations and the whole staff seemed happy to be there. Go here!

June 2009 I went to Paul based on reviews I had read from others. I was really glad I did. He took my mousey gray hair and turned it into a FABULOUS highlighted look. I have always shyed away from going to a new salon without first seeing the work of the one that would do my hair first. I will go back to Paul again, He is truly an artist with hair. my hair looks awesome and i could not ask for a more friendly and awesome place. nicole was friendly and professional and i have got nothing but complements on my hair. I had my eyebrows waxed by Paul and he is able to make the process painless. normally i have some bleeding and redness afterwards but none this time. they both are well worth the money and i will send all my friends there!!!
