Great food with tons of flavor and creativity

    Provided by

We love going to California Pizza Kitchen!! We eat at one in almost every city we visit and love the location at Barton Creek mall. The staff is extremely friendy and efficient and there's almost never a wait. The shrimp scampi pizza is my favorite and my husband likes the sweet and spicy italian sausage. We both love the spinach dip and hummus. Caleb has been our waiter a couple times and he is great, always fun, knowledgeable, and efficient. FYI if you're only used to pizza hut type pizzas and don't have an open mind about creative pizzas and pastas this place is not for you. Although it's a chain this place is one of the best in Austin I promise.

    Nice service, bad food

    Provided by

My husband and I went to this place on a cold evening recently. The room temperature was toasty warm, which we appreciated. The ambiance was nice, clean, unharried, and the server was gracious. I liked the menu, and thought the prices were reasonable. I was all set to like this place, until the food came. I ordered a Thai chicken salad, which was basically just a plate of crispy noodles. The few bits of chicken were practically garnishes, and since there were hardly any fresh veggies, I wouldn't even call this a salad. The pizza tasted like something you'd get from a grocery store frozen section. The food here is basically fast food, served in a restaurant environment.

    Best Pizza in Texas!!!

The meals here can be a little pricey, but you're paying for what you are getting, and that's QUALITY FOOD! Each pizza and dish is delicious in its own way, but the pizza is fantastic! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

    NEVER AGAIN!

    Provided by

Sunday was my first and last time trying the CPK. We waited almost 30 mins just to get our starter. Finally our pizza came out after an hour and half of waiting, and it looked and smelled like a frozen pizza from the grocery store. There was also other groups of people complaining as we were walking out, from the terrible food and service. I don't plan on ever going back to this location. \r \r The only good thing I can say, is the Kiwi lemonade was rather yummy.

Decent Mall Food with great waitstaff

    Provided by

We went with our kids and my first impression was that yes, this was a typical mall restaurant packed with moms and kids. Very hectic and noisy. As I was there with my own kids, I can't say much! It is, after all, the mall. If you want romantic ambience, don't dine at the mall.\r The hostess was ineffective and we almost left due to her.\r We were finally seated and our waiter, Shawn, was extremely efficient, concise and courteous. He was also patient! A must when you have children. Despite the crowd, he managed to take our order in a timely manner and bring out our food quickly. He followed up to ensure all was well. He allowed us to enjoy our meal and each other's company without unnecessary interruption. We left him a nice tip for his efforts and laud his professionalism.\r The food was hot and flavorful. There is a great vegetarian selection to choose from. \r The variety on the menu allowed everyone to find something. Sandwiches to pasta to pizza. The kids menu was good.\r We will be back but next time we will try to go during an off-peak time. Avoid it during peak dining hours. We will certainly ask for the same waiter, if possible!

Moms out with the Kids Only

    Provided by

The pizza is ok, but only go to this spot if you like kids, nosie and housewives.\r Nothing wrong with anyone of those on their own but put them together when your eating and it is not fun.\r Their always busy but it is a market of mall shoppers and ladies looking to get out of the house.

This is my favourite pizza restaurant in Austin simply because they make pizza the way I like: thin crust with interesting toppings. However, thin crust is not your only option. So far I've tried the Roasted Patota and Grilled Chicken pizza, Pear and Gorgonzola pizza, and the Vegetarian with grilled eggplant pizza. I liked them all. Their Waldorf Chicken Salad with walnuts and apples is what I order if I'm not in the mood for pizza.
