This is not a good place to eat

    Provided by

We tried to give this place a chance. On my first visit to Angie's my sister find something in her food. We call the waiter over to the table to see if he could tell what it was, and he didn't even know what it was. We told them that it was ok and that it could happen to anybody however they did give her a disccount on her meal. Well we went back and the food was watered down so much that we couldn't even tell what it was, so once again we gave them another chance, but when went back it took the waiter forever to wait on us, and when she did she came back to the table with a baskest of burned up chips a cup of sauce that look like someone else had already used, and to top that off she didn't even bring us what we ordered. They never even came back to refill our drinks, and we had to ask them if we could have more chips. So we never plan to returning to this place again

    BAD

    Provided by

I'm so disappointed in Angie's. I went to this restaurant in the old location twice and both times had a good meal. Recently I had company in town and we went here for breakfast. The new location has tile floors and a wood ceiling. Talk about loud! I couldn't hear what anyone was saying at my table and the place was only half full. I guess the waiter couldn't hear me either because I was brought the wrong meal. The food was very disappointing. No taste, flavor or kick. Just mediocre cafeteria slop. To top it off, my last bite had a piece of wire in it. Luckily I didn't swallow it. Sorry Angie, but I have to give you a 1 star. The parking is also way too tight...

Salsa and Corn Tortillas to Die For

    Provided by

Angie should sell her salsa in bottles to go. It's some of the freshest, hottest and tastiest in all of Austin - and I've tried most of them. The corn tortillas are the best in town too. And the best way to eat them is filled with tender carnitas (pork) or tasty beef. I always get the soft taco plate because for me - Angie's is all about the tacos.\r \r The new restaurant is definitely an improvement over the old space, but the seating and service system could use some tweaking for busy times - like most days during the lunch hours. When you first enter, there can be a crowd of people inside the door, waiting to be seated or waiting to pay or trying to figure out what they should be doing - since it's not clear. On top of all that confusion, the bus boys have to cross the entryway. There is sometimes a waiting list, but you may have to fight your way to the front counter to get on it. \r \r The new parking lot is designed so poorly that if you pull in and can't park, you have to BACK OUT into traffic on 7th Street! If someone pulls in behind you, just take a deep breath because it will take awhile to untangle the snarl.\r \r Despite these drawbacks, I still can't keep myself from a weekly visit.

Authentic Mexican Food!!!!! The REAL Deal.

    Provided by

This restaurant has some of the BEST authentic Mexican food in town! Flavorful food with a good balance of traditional Mexican seasonings & other ingredients that make this place stand out above the rest. \r Their beef taco?s are superb! Made with HOMEMADE corn tortillas (not store bought). Fresh salsa made with cilantro. Good use of peppers. Being a Native Texan, I am use to the salsa with chips, but a friend from out-of-town felt that the peppers made a strong statement (in his opinion it was an aggressive use of peppers) and advised that the salsa be kept out of the reach of children. It took two beers to put out the flames he encountered. My only complaints are that breakfast & noon lunch are often crowded & the surroundings can be a bit cramped. Other than that, I highly recommend this place. \r

    Awesome Mexican food

    Provided by

This is hands down the best Mexican food I've had. They use fresh homemade tortillas. That alone stands them above the rest. Their carnitas is awe-inspiring. Get a carnitas taco and be sent to another world. I couldn't help but to close my eyes and focus on the marvelous sensations going about my mouth. The salsa is great. I also recommend the Manchacas for breakfast(sp?). It's dried beef strips stirred into eggs with potatoes and beans and rice. It is so good!! They give a few of those fabulous tortillas. After eating here, I honestly don't know why every Mexican place doesn't make fresh tortillas. It really stands out.

    The best tacos in town!

    Provided by

Angie's is fabulous. Their tacos are the best in town with homemade corn tortillas that are cooked perfectly and natural while so many other restaurants use store bought hard shells. And, the taco meat is moist and flavorfull. Not to mention, that their cheese enchiladas rival the best in town. Don't forget to order the queso flameado with the corn tortillas. You may walk out of the restaurant feeling like your going to have a cardiac arrest, but it was totally worth it!

    Best? Maybe.

    Provided by

This may be the best Tex-Mex in Austin. And that's saying a lot in this town. This is my second favorite Tex-Mex place in Austin, Polvo's is my favorite. I agree that the homemade taco shells, tostadas, tortillas and other ingredients are what make this place so good. I think they could use better chips with the salsa, but that is being really picky. The salsa is outstanding. Lunch is crowded, dinner is a better time to get a table quickly.

    Best Mexican food in Town

    Provided by

I highly recommend this place, it is the best mexican food ever. Being from El Paso it was hard to find a restaurant with the same authenticity as El Paso's mexican food, well this comes pretty darn close. It is a must that you try the Carnitas Taco Plate and the Cheese Enchiladas, they are to die for. The salsa is the best ever- HOT AND SPICY. This place is simply a must try for Austinites and out of towners.

    The real Tex-Mex heaven

Best enchiladas in town. The tortillas are homemade and everything is served piping hot. Service is friendly and the prices are unbeatable.

    Good Price, Great Food

    Provided by

The plates are priced very well considering that the food is one of the best mexican food eateries in Austin. The beer is served in buckets, the salsa is hot, and the food is made to order; when you order tacos they do not serve the premade taco shells, they fry each tortilla before serving giving it a homemade ethnic taste. The restaurant is in an old house and gives you a close family feeling. Be careful because the hours are strange. Call before you go. Excellent!
